Problem; difficulty getting into second gear requires a good tug down, occasionally.Other gears are fine.
Before visiting a scrappy and possibly replacing all the linkage section, any advice or suggestions to help me.Thanks.

I would say that is gearbox problem rather than linkage?I would expect others know better?.I would still go for box.

To start with, if it is only one gear - and then not all the time - it is not clutch. But you probably knew that.
How about synchro cones?
Is problem there 1 to 2 as well as 3 to 2?
Are you attempting to match revs when changing from 3 to 2?

put it this way.synchro cones are a clutch between all gears.if one plays up that gear will be hard to engage.clutch won`t come into it as all gears would be hard to engage same applies to gear linkage.would look at box.?

Worth greasing or at least WD40'ing all the linkages visible in the engine bay from the gear shift shaft to the top of the box. Little cost and it may just fix it.
