Dear Mods,

Within 10 seconds of clicking on discussion and it opening up a Security alert stating, "you are about to view pages over a secure connection", appears. This is new? Have I missed something?

Regards as ever

Are you sure you haven't just come from a secure site, deleted part of the URL and left https:|| in place at the start of the address? With that in place, your security settings can then warn you.

I haven't got any kind of secure connection to this site going, nor can I think of a reason why there should be one.

You cant HTTPS to this site, its not a valid URL and you get the 404 error

Thank God for that! I had 700 viruses on my computer so decided to wipe it and put Windows 2000 back on. The secure site message coincided with that. At least it's not me!

It's been happening for the past few days. I have mentioned it in the moderators mess room, but as yet, no one has provided an answer to as why it's happening.

Not sure if it's co-incidence, but I've only seen it when the new Nissan advert first appeared.

'tis still happening. I wonder what else is happening when we are connected to the web! ..... Who may be trundleing about in our machines?

We should worry.

6 - I thought it was just my machine.

Is anyone getting this in anything other than IE? I've tried Mozilla, Firefox, Opera, and Konqueror in Linux and they are all fine. IE in Linux (yes, really) does exactly as you're describing--there is always one more thing left to load. I haven't tried Mozilla/Firefox in Windows.

I'm getting it too, the frozen progress bar and "1 item remaining". Site hasn't crashed on me though, although last week I couldn't access it at all for nearly a day. I wonder is it something to do with a recent antivirus update - that's the only thing that has changed on my PC in recent days. I run Norton AV, but also have Norton Security, Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D and a disabled popup stopper. Running IE6 on Win98.

Just had the security alert as I was logging in and it took out part of my address!!!!

I would still like to know who and what is mooching about in our machines when we are on line. Still, it won't be the C.I.A. will it, as they have all resigned in the last day or two!
