Just noticed some mayo round the oil filler cap today, not huge amounts, just enough to coat the surface at the very top of the filler. I've wiped it all off and will wait to see if it builds up again.
Is this a sign of impending HG doom and will it require (as always) open wallet surgery?
Background:
The car doesn't use any oil and the coolant level is pretty constant. In the past few months it has been used almost daily for very short journeys (<2 miles) but every couple of weeks gets a long M'way run too - beginning of Feb drove to Paris, Xmas/NY went to Inverness etc. and the occasional italian tune-up.
The car has covered 112K and had a "full" service around 8K ago, and is due for a service in a couple of weeks. The car has always been well maintained, most of the problems in the last couple of years being well documented on this site.
Thanks in advance,
Chad.

Try to remember to wipe the mayo off the filler cap before starting a long journey. Chances are it won't come back until you start the short journey's again.

Thanks DD, I thought it probably was mainly due to the short trips but needed the reassurance of an expert opinion.
Cheers,
Chad.
