I am considering purchasing a BMW 3 series (91-98 model) privately.
If anyone has any good/bad expriences or things to look out for on this car I would appreciate any feedback.
Thank you.

I had a 1998 one for 40k miles from new.
They are easily stolen.. chisel on door lock.. so always fit a steering lock, leave nothing in CD and no valuables ever in car (mine was broken into and CD stolen..in Brighton).
The 318i which I had did some 35mpg overall and was quiet and reliable.. I would not buy another as it was undriveable in snow and ice (no traction control).
A/C is imo a must especially if it's black..
FSH of course ..
Watch for clocking ..BMW have a computer history of all BMW servicing and mileage so check with them..
Stone chips can be a problem. but even early ones look good. On high mileage ones rear suspension bushes can go and £00s repair bills.

Just to add to madf engine should be smooth and quiet, rattly tappets indicates lack of servicing. Interiors dont wear well. Handling is not clever and if you are used to front wheel drive beware of rear end suddenly letting go in anything other than bone dry conditions when 'pressing on'.

I've had a '94 E36 318 from new. The only problem is that this model can suffer from 'hot clutch judder'. It takes the form of severe transmission juddering when the car's really hot and you slip the clutch - in 1st or reverse. You soon learn to time letting it out fully, quickly & smoothly without judder. A bit alarming when it happens if you don't get the timing right. It's to do with lack of asbestos in the clutchplate I'm told and even replacing the plate won't cure it for any length of time.
Apart from that it's been a great car, and is still on its original exhaust! Look also for wear on the right thigh panel on the driver's seat.
