I have trouble with my VW Bora.
After a short spell of snow and a drop in temperature to -1, in less than 1 hour, all of the doors became frozen up.
Moisture gets between the rubber seal and metal door frame - the seal freezes solid.
Is there a solution to this problem.
Thanks.

Vaseline on the rubber seal.

Doesn't grease and vaseline eat into some door seals? I use door seal spray from Halfords or BMW Gummi Phledge which is a thick creamy door seal lubricant.

Silicon based sprays are best, even 'Back to Black' trim restorer (silicon based aerosol) has worked for me.

A word of caution, coating seals in this way can attract dirt and sand, and this can then etch the paint over time, where the seals close onto it.

Rather than putting anything greasy on the weatherseals, I suggest a thin overall application of talc. Just like they used to put on puncture patches. Stops rubber sticking to things and also retards deterioration.

VW Polo - stuck inside car at 0200 due to frozen door seals! Wash car of dust/dirt, thoroughly dry and spray with Silicon spray (I got a free can from VW garage), seems to work. Other pal with a new VW says don't try to open windows whilst frozen/semi-iced, they fall out, this has happened to her twice. I've never seen anything like it.

I used auto glymm may have spelt that wrong.on the door frames
where the rubber meets metal. In the last lot of low temps ie well below freezing I had to pull a bit harder on door but it did open.left a few broken ice blobs behind but it works.I wouldn`t recommend anything else as problems can arise from doing so.Hope that helps it did me.Even flyes cant rest on it
too slippery.
