I need a little runabout to get me buy for 2 months before my new car is delivered. I lady at work has a 1998 SEAT Arosa 1.4 for sale for £1000. The only problem is that although it has 12 months TAX/MOT and is one owner, it has 107k miles and is Left hand drive.
If I was to offer £900, am I likely to get my money back after 2 months?

If you can ever sell it, probably. Do you have any friends living abroad, because you should double your money if you can take it to France or Spain.

And another thing: do you know that the 107k is miles or kilometres? It should be miles of course, but isn't always.

I'll find out when I see the car. Although I have seen it many times in the carpark, I have never looked to see if it has full UK spec (MPH) dash.

Very unlikely to have a MPH speedo in a LHD car.LHD cars are easier than you might think to move on,especially in London area,can be helpful if original docs/copies are available from the original registered country.

The car was originally registered in the UK I believe, but bought as LHD as the owner travels to europe a lot on business.

It will have needed a MPH speedo to pass the MOT.

That doesn't seem to be the case. My neighbour has a German Astra with a k/mh speedo and smaller mph markings. Says he has never had a problem at MOT time.

A friend of mine has a Mazda 323 with the KM speedo and the MPH is also in the smaller markings.
In any case, for a car, a working speedo is not an MOT requirement - but is a legal one.
Although the Speedo box is on the checklist, it only applies to certain vehicle classes.
IMO - offer the lady the £900 and drive it away to spain and flog it there in a couple of months and pay for a great 2 week holiday with the profits -
- Oh, and when you get back the drinks are on you!
