The electric window (driver side)decided to pack up on me.I took it to a garage, they stripped the door down and they have said i need a new window motor. They have told me that the part costs £180 thats without labour.I just wanted to know if this is an average cost, and how long it would take to fit.
Hope somebody out there can help, thanks

You don't say what year/spec. your Polo is.
Assuming it is a 1995-2000 model then eurocarparts (www.eurocarparts.com) sell new motors for about £70+VAT.
I have fitted one myself and it took a 'steady' hour - at an 'independent' garage this is around £50, depending on where you live.
So total cost could be around £130.
Alternative you might be able to get a secondhand unit from a specilist VW breaker for around £40.

Thanks for your thread,i took your advice and searched on the web.I have had quite a few quotes for new and used. They are all a lot cheaper than what i was quoted originally, just have to find somebody to fit it for me now! Thanks

Many scrap yards - or rather vehicle dismantlers as they prefer to be called - would fit it for you. Ring them and ask.
A specialist VW scrap yard is likely to be pricier than a general breakers.

Thanks,i shall ring round and see who will fit it for me.
