2.0 140bhp TDi VW BKD ENGINE - Emissions workshop and warning light - Roy Brown

On my family members 05 mk5 golf 2.0 gt tdi with 148k. Emissions workshop text displayed and check engine light on clocks. Car seems to be driving fine with no cutting out etc

What is the most likely cause of this? Only has a glowplug warning when they got it plugged in at their mechanics last week (going to see if anybody local has vcds/vagcom)

The check engine light probably covers in excess of 1000 faults.So I don't really think this is something that you want to hazard a guess at.However,as a simple check,do the brake lights work?

Would check engine light point towards glow plugs?

I've got VCDS. Whereabouts are you? The glow plugs would bring the engine management lamp on if one or more had a circuit fault.

There are otherwise a whole load of possibilities why the lamp would be on. You need to get it scanned and go from there. Without any information to work with you're only guessing.
