OK. What has happened is that the left balancing rocker shaft housing (the AB-delta type Mk.3) has failed. This is causing the engine to flip over underneath the bonnet, and as it can't run upside down, it is instantly cutting out. When it cuts out, it flips back the right way up. By magic.

Ok. Yes, I'm not being helpful. But neither is the question. What age of car ? What engine is in it ? A little bit of detail will help people to help you. No detail, you might as well not bother

I transferred your fitst post on the same subject to the Technical section, where technical queries belong: I also commented that we couldn't answer your question because you hadn't given enough detail about the problem. You haven't even taken the trouble to tell us whether the engine is petrol or diesel.
