BMW 3 Series E90 - BMW 318i SE Key fob will unlock door, but not lock - keyring

Hi guys,

I have a slight problem and was wondering if anyone could help. I have a BMW 318i SE and the key fob will unlock the car and the boot, but the lock button isn't working. To lock the car I have to take the key out the fob and use it manually. Does anyone know how to reprogram this (without going to a dealer)? This is a stop/start button ignition on a BMW 318i SE 2006.

Have you tried the spare fob.

It may not be the remote that is the problem.

When I had a 2004 1-series the remote locking stopped working. Even locking the car manually wasn't safe because, if you pulled on a door handle, all the locks released automatically!

The dealer had to get a special diagnostic cable (took 5 weeks) but eventually found that the driver's door lock was faulty and was preventing the locking mechanism from functioning properly.

If you sit in the car with everything closed,operate the lock/unlock button on the dash.do all the doors lock and unlock correctly?

Yeah, the central dash has the unlock/lock button and this works correctly.
