Land Rover Discovery 1 3.5 V8 Petrol 1999. - Hard automatic gear shift - strickjumpers

Hi all, had Landrover Discovery on rolling road couple of days ago, once it was taken off immediately the gear changes seem much more jumpy, is there anything that the driven rear or front wheels can damage inside of the transmission if the other set are stationary, the diff lock was not engaged.

thanks, mike.

I do not like the sound of that. Why would you put it on a rolling road without it being a 4WD Unit.
I suggest you have the oil drained and inspected for debris. Refill with new oil and see how she goes. Regards Peter

Hello Peter,

Thanks for the reply, I'm in Oman and cars of ten years and over go for what passes for an MOT here, the inspection is carried out by the police, you join a que and when its your cars turn a police sprog jumps in and subjects your car to what they think looks impressive to the equally incompitent at the next bay. usually the suspension is checked by a shake and then the front wheel brakes are checked when the vehicle is positioned on the single setof rollers, then its the back suspension then car forward on to the single set of rollers to check the back braqles, I had to intervene to stop the inspector breaking my half shafts by puling on the hand brake. I'm not up on automatics, but as I said, it went for inspection fine and came out the other side a different car.......so it could have been the rolling road after all! if my understanding of your reply is correct, many thanks, Mike.

I suspect the transfer box won't have cared much for this treatment. Consult an independant LR specialist.
