Happy Christmas everyone - Avant

I know that everyone in the HJ organisation would want to join me in wishing everyone a very happy Christmas - a merry one if you're not driving anywhere....as I won't be come Christmas lunchtime after playing the organ for six carol services plus midnight Communion and Christmas morning.

Hark, the Herald (ancient) sings,

Mud and gunge beneath its wings:

Peace on earth and mercy mild -

John and Skidpan reconciled.

Send the Triumph to the skies:

Let's all drive TFSIs.

DSG can go to hell -

Jesus drove Em-manual.

Now let others sweeter sing...

I'm content with my four rings.

Someone can do better than this: let's hear you.

Superb Avant! Very well done, as a relative newcomer I would just like to say thank you to all the members, I seem to learn something new every time I visit....SLO should definitely have his own website, such a goldmine of information..... merry Christmas everyone

Thanks Paul. I’ve been a Jack of all trades through my life from electrician to bus driver through newsagent, car salesman and expensive model train builder employed by Pete Waterman.

If I could go back and give myself a shake as a teen I’d be a motoring journalist of some sort, it’s a life I’d love though I’m a bit James May when it comes to cars. I’ve plenty of buying and selling stories, opinions and skills in my head but I lack the writing ability to make much from it.

Maybe if swmbo gets through Uni and gets a job as a teacher I can take the time to to College and learn to string a sentence together properly.

As far as I'm concerned, SLO76, there's nothing wrong with your writing as it is - it's very succinct.

Merry Christmas, everyone.

Ho-ho-ho! And (after watching 'The Good Life' Christmas special) yuletide felecitations to you too!

Sorry mate but I'm not going to be giving another rendition of 'Jingle Bells' as I only know the 'Batman smells' alternate version, and song-writing isn't my forte.

Instead, here are some 'motoring themed' Christmas ditties I came across on You Tube:

Good lyrical talents there Avant, I’ll spare everyone from my own attempt and just wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a prosperous and healthy New Year. I’ve enjoyed the last years motoring discussion on this excellent forum and hope for many more to come.

Another relevant little salesman’s tip comes to mind. It’s a very quiet time of year down the showrooms in between Christmas and New Year, most have their sales in place already and staff will be keen to deal to get those targets met. It’s a good time to be car shopping something I will be doing myself.

Merry Christmas everybody! I hope that Santa is good to you & your families. :)

Happy Christmas everyone - FP

Excellent alternative lyrics, Avant!

And thank you to Avant for his work with the BR - admirable! Moderating the forum is not a job I would like to do, or could even make a reasonable shot at. It must take a lot of patience.

Have a good Christmas, everyone, and a prosperous New Year!

Merry Christmas to one and all, I have loved reading the interesting motoring questions and answers, over the past year, long may it continue, I must post myself about the poor gearchange in my mk8 fiesta, but as it has the much “loved” eco boost engine, I just darent, maybe if Santa brings me a tin hat for Christmas ??
Happy Christmas everyone - carl233

HJ remains the de facto and number one site for all things motoring. It is refreshing that the site is not like the other mainstream motoring mags which seem to have a very biased mantra towards certain '''premium" vehicles and often do not know the difference between a backside and an elbow. HJ remains a great source for info as it has been for many years.

Happy Christmas everyone - KB.

Top Man, Avant!

Festive good wishes ... and all that sort of thing.

Midnight Mass at the organ for you, Avant?

Happy Christmas everyone - RickyBoy

... aye, echoes my sentiments exactly.

Not posted much myself this year, but, it's always reassuring to know that the site is in good health and will always be my first port of call to seek sound advice for any motoring-related issues that might be perplexing me at the time!

So, merry festive wishes to all users and see you on the other side (2019)? ...

Someone can do better than this: let's hear you.

I didn't realise moderators were expected to provide a Yuletide poem, but I'm sure this one is well up to Standard, as it were.

Seasonal greetings to all at HJ - keep up the good work.

Happy Christmas everyone - focussed

I'm a bit late to this party but nevertheless I wish all the regulars and irregulars a joyeux noël from Brittany France.- Meanwhile the locals are scoffing their xmas meal - their tradition is that they have an enormous meal xmas eve. The full monty, oysters, plat de mer, roast. cheese. dessert and loads of lubrication with it of course. They recover on xmas day and go back to work on what brits call boxing day!

I can't get my digestion around doing an eating marathon at around midnight, and then going to bed on it! So we will be doing the traditional uk xmas dinner on xmas day.

À votre santé a tous

Merry christmas to you Avant, and to all Backroomers.

I accept the challenge, and here's "Silent Night (a Tesla driver's lament)"

Silent night, hybrid night

Electric driving, it's alright

No more rattling diesel lumps

Who cares what fuel you choose at the pumps

Proceed in heavenly peace

Proceed in heavenly peace

Silent night, what a sight

Tesla's stranded, what a plight

All the charging bays taken up

By Priuses while their owners sup

Coffee in careless bliss

Coffee in careless bliss

Happy Christmas everyone - Mike H

Merry Christmas to all from a dull, misty and green Austria!
