I bought a used car in mid February this year. I noticed the air conditioning was not working within three weeks and notified the dealer. Eventually they did get back to me, after a week of trying, and they asked me to get a quote as they are over a hundred miles from me.

Ive got the fan manually controlled at the moment. This is not satisfactory and I hope to be able to restore temperature switch control presently, but meantime, I'm wondering how long I should leave it running after switch-off..
Never really noticed. Perhaps yáll didn't either, and if yiou aren't driving much in these trying times it'll be a while before you do.... Read more
I suppose if carb perc-ing was a problem one could perhaps fit a supplementary fan, something like a computer case fan, which should be cheap and not draw much current. AFAIK it isn't a problem though.
The rubber sealing strip at the back of the bonnet came off and I have probably now lost it. This might reduce underbonnet temperatures a bit during cool down
Yesterday afternoon near Bury St Edmunds while walking the dog I was followed by a black BMW 3 series. I've since reported the incident to the police. The driver seemed more interested in the dog than me. Read more
Unmarked plod, hoping you might do something you could be fined for re curfew?
Though you are right to be concerned, my wife tells me lots of stolen dogs reported over the last couple of years via faceache, i once happened to see a picture of the ruined face of a dog that been used as a bait dog by scum and then discarded, once seen that vision cannot be unseen, there is no punishment harsh enough....
My car was filthy, and I saw my neighbour washing his car, and said could he do mine as a favour.
1 hour later, washed with jetwash karcher rinsed and then vacuumed the outside dry.... Read more

A friend of mine has a 10 year old Nissan Qashqai , where the radio / nav system has failed. He called the dealer for the cost of a replacement. A staggering £ 2500 . Just about the value of the car ! Read more
I bet they could get a replacement unit that isa different system, made by another firm and retailing for a lot less, but that just fits the space and internal electronics/power systems of the existing car.
I was once considering getting a new combined ICE and Satnav system for my 2005-build Mazda3, and I could get (from the US) systems that had a decent sized touchscreen and ICE system all-in-one for a considerable lower price than the £1500 DVD SatNav System that Mazda3 sold for the car. One of the members of the Mazda3 owners forum has one and it works very nicely....
I get WhatCar every month and the new cars all seem to be either hybrid or full electric models. All of these cars, by their very nature, are automatics so does this mean that slowly manuals are going to disappear?
Do you think the manufacturers will produce a manual version of an electric car?
I know it doesn't need it but you can't beat stirring a manual gear box on a twisty road. Read more

I wonder how many others have SORNed their pet cars for a bit? My TR7's tax runs out in a few days time. I can't see much activity for the next few weeks so have decided to keep it off the road for the time being. Still, it will be only the first time in 40yrs it's been so idle. Bit like its owner.... Another Benefit of being at home is I had to change the battery in my smoke alarm. I actually took the time to look at it a bit closer than usual. Manufactured in May 2004. Replace May 2014. Oops my bad. It still worked great when I burnt toast etc so I never paid it much attention. Well nice new one via that seller named after a big river and Its now sorted. So my message to you guys is please go check your alarms expiry date now. I didn't even know they had a replacement date. Stay well. Read more
Quite right galileo. My mistake, it is Carbon Monoxide and not Carbon Dioxide that is detected. Apart from the odd moment of forgetfulness whilst using the oven our alarms have never sounded in anger so I do test them fairly regularly. Better safe than sorry.
Cheers Concrete...

Both those vids are on youtube and are almost 12 months old.
cant get into our transit, we have not long had.
We have no spare key for the back up lock in the door., the electronic key is dead and is apparently charged while driving the vehicle.
We got a mechanic friend to look at it and he couldnt get us in, as the back up standard door lock, has been previously drilled.
We have called a key place and they told us to put the key in this bit under the bonnet but that didnt work.
How can we can we charge this stupid key?
Youtube suggested balancing on a toothbrush charger, but that hasnt worked either. Read more
I'm doing a partial rebuild on my Series 3 (gearbox, clutch, quarter chassis, brakes), and I've replaced the propshaft gaiters about a year ago while it was stillword counter sat on my drive. 6 months later, having doVidMate ne zero miles, I noticed that they'd split again! Replaced them again, anMobdro d just now I've noticed they've rotted again. Just under 6 months!

There is a big difference between a car which simply doesn't go and one with leaking aircon.
In this case, I think you'll be OK, the dealer sounds sensible and not doing non-essential work in the current period is a policy most are using.
