Quick question - Can the non-PD 110hp engine run on bio diesel? Read more
The rear drivers side arch on my Mazda has some more-than advanced corrosion. It feels very brittle to touch and could break it if forced enough. Is there anyway of treating it either with anti rust, filler or anything else worth recommending. I know its not the end of the world but it is the only major imperfection on a reasonably tidy 11 year old vehicle.

They say that POR 15 paint is the best, followed by filler and paint to make it cosmetically acceptable.
You can buy it mail order if you google for it.

My Golf has an intermittent idling problem - error code throttle lower limit not attained p1565.
Some days its absolutely fine but others it often cuts out.Wednesday last week it cut out in traffic and wouldnt restart at all, I tried a few times but it was like I flattened the battery trying (or the immobiliser kicked in or something) I went back 3 hours later and it started 1st time and was idling perfectly.
I had the breather pipe replaced (and the battery - my remote locking doesnt work anymore either, cant seem to calibrate it) about 3 months ago.
Any ideas much appreciated. Many thanks.

Recently aquired a 2003 Civic, which has electric power steering. I'm finding it difficult to keep to the centre of the lane-seems to need constant correction, unlike my other car, which has hydraulic power steering. Has anyone noticed this tendency,or can suggest a reason? Tracking has been checked, could incorrect castor angle be a contributing cause?

Can't say I have noticed that - must be because usually I don't have to
turn sharply when driving off ...
I maybe wouldn't if i owned one, but when you're putting 11 of the things on..
Hi I have had my car now nearly six months and I have it running perfectly apart from one thing. When I try the heating system my windows steam up. The only way I can clear it is by using the Air Con and that makes my car freezing.
Obviously its winter and I dont want to freeze everytime I drive. I have changed the pollen filter when i got the car which looked like it had'nt been changed ever since the car was built. Just a bit lost at where to look.

Suspect that your heater matrix is leaking slightly.
Probably not enough that you have had to top up the cooling system.
Just a slight leak that vapories immediately on the hot matrix then condenses on the cold windscreen.
Try some radseal in the cooling system.
If it effects a cure you can just run with it or arange to get the matrix changed later at your convenience.
Got a diesel Octavia, 140ps PD. Does this have electrical elements in the heater circuit? Skoda heater produces warm air within 1/2 mile but takes a few miles to get up to normal temperature.
My old Passat diesel was alleged to have them.

After the recent cold weather, can't say that system is really temperature dependent. Been warm enough down to -11°C - coldest I've driven in. Get the odd occasion when interior of windscreen mists over after a few yards of driving.I leave system on auto unless the demist needs a boost. But generally works fine.
following on from Manatee"s wonderful pathe news link i found this, you have to watch it all mind

I think that people are starting to look again at trolleybuses Manatee, and not before time, I entirely agree with you that if you want electric urban road transport a trolleybus is far better and flexible (and cheaper) than a tram...
BTW if you want the real thing, then the Black Country Museum still run them from time to time!
As in the Kia Ceed has all three as standard
Plus a tidy cubby hole to stash the connected gizmo when driving
The Toyota Auris does not appear to have this facility though one can specify Bluetooth as an EXTRA.
I was having a poke round the 3008 Peugot this morning
Now I liked it,
I did not have time to suss the above though. I will peruse the brochure later.
sigh
But I dinny want to spend that sort of money on a motor for one of the weans to stuff through a hedge.

I picked up my KA Style+ a month ago and have done 600 miles since then. 200 Miles M way to get home and then local A/B/unlass road ,local running about, mostly to work and back.
GOOD
1. Handling , good grip and reasonably roll free cornering
2. Excellent heater, worthwhile output after 1 mile. Typical Ford!
3. Heated front screen
4. Connection to play ipod thru ICE
5. Fusebox easily accessible in glove pocket
6. Seats comfortable
7. Engine access for checks and top ups is good
8. 3 years servicing and years 2 & 3 of breakdown service available for £440 up front
BAD
1. No spare wheel. Bought one for £155
2. Inability to dim dash lights at night. White dials = too bright for an old pilot!
3 Female fitting of seat belt well buried between seat and centre console, would be better with an extension to lift it up a bit
4. Dipped beam a bit dim on country roads
5. Poor fuel consumption, getting about 48 mpg on the computer, mimsing around!
6. Dashboard air vents give a good volume of air thru the centre vents but very little to the ones at the outer ends which would deal with the 1/4 lights
7. Probably a bit underpowered with more than me in it but it is only 1240cc!
8. Glove pocket is a strange shape, tall but with no fore and aft depth
Happy to add more if people want to ask via my e mail - see profile

Have you changed the relay as this is not clear?

Yes, and the PD of that year is approved too.
It is supposed to be RME to EM14214.
Most of what is on sale commercially is FAME, but I have used this too with no problem.
VAG only approved their cars for a few years before the blasted DPF exhaust traps mandated by EUIV emissions rules were fitted which were not deemed compatible with vegetable smoke.
