98 2.0 Fixing rusty wheel arch - TimOrridge
The rear drivers side arch on my Mazda has some more-than advanced corrosion. It feels very brittle to touch and could break it if forced enough. Is there anyway of treating it either with anti rust, filler or anything else worth recommending. I know its not the end of the world but it is the only major imperfection on a reasonably tidy 11 year old vehicle.

Hiya, I have a 626 1999 and as youve found out this rust does come through and let down what is basically a good car. Mazda do not seem able to make a car that doesnt rust around the wheel arches. I previously had a mx5 and after 6.5 years rust statred around the wheel arches . It seems to be very prevalent on the 626 , I have been fastidious on my car which Ive had for 7.5 years to always keep the wheel arches clean and its still rusted. It will be interesting to see what answers people come up you might be best just to leave it, thats what I am doing with mine.

They say that POR 15 paint is the best, followed by filler and paint to make it cosmetically acceptable.
You can buy it mail order if you google for it.
