Blast home this morning after the GS went for a Service - 80 miles along a ual carriageway, not that interesting but still better than a car. I found myself singing (tunelessly) Beethoven's 9th Symphony Choral "Ode to Joy" which summed up my mood. Don't let on to the car lot in DIscussion or they'll condemn my soul. Read more

When Tony is made President of Europe and the EU adopts 'Ode to Joy' as its anthem, it will then be compulsory to sing it all the time!

I kid you not!

A quote from another forum re an event in Finland

"A lady motorist was stopped, randomly breath tested, and gave a very high reading (4%).
The police officers felt she couldn't possibly be that drunk (no other signs) and an investigation was commenced.
It concluded that the breathalyser machine had been contaminated by the disinfectant, which we are currently urged to rub on our hands, used to contain pig flu." Read more

You say you checked spark and fuel, was there any. If there were both then the sensor must be working. As you only moved the car ashort distance an then stopped it you may have fooled the fueling system and the car is flooded. Use some quick start to fire it up or pull the plugs and take a look how wet they are. Regards Peter

Hi everyone hope you can help?

Is this model fitted with a turbo - if not can one be fitted? Read more

A company called Van Aaken Developments used to offer a turbocharger conversion for the Fiesta Zetec-S which shares an engine with the 1.6 litre Focus (itself, the same series as the 1.4). It took power up to around 135 bhp IIRC, and turned the sub tonne Fiesta into a pretty quick little car. I don't know what long term reliability was like, given it used standard internals, but when I was on the owners club site, owners were delighted.

Recently bought an 03 Passat 1.9Tdi (100ps) Estate. They original Service Schedule has been 'lost', so I've got a replacement. Apart from the VIN which I can get off the car itself, are there any other details i.e. the makers vehicle data sticker, that is somewhere on the car. I recall that on my Skoda Octavia, I think I saw a similar/copy of the sticker in the spare wheel well/boot area that was in it's service schedule. Read more

Hello there. I have had the front pads replaced but now the sensor light is showing when I touch the brake. I have checked and the sensors are connected. Also when I'm braking I get the feeling that the pads are worn but they just got replaced last week. I just got the car last week so still getting the feel of it but this is annoying! Thanks for listening Read more

Thanks Robin. I will check the fluid level. I did take the car back and the guy had a look and said the leads were ok. He just thought that the light was faulty!

I have a 2002 Fiesta Zetec-S and had the thermostat housing changed by a mechanic (mate of a mate) because of a coolant leak and I had no previous temperature issues.

The temperature seems to be going up and down like a yo-yo. It seems to be ok for the 1st part of the journey but as soon as I get to higher speeds and then reduce the temperature rises, one way to make it go down is to accelerate in a lower gear. If I rev out of gear it makes no difference.

I've done the water pump test buy putting heating on full but this made no difference

On one occasion I left the overflow cap off and this seemed to help the problem, but I'm wondering if this is an air pocket and how to sort?

Any advise would be most appreciated. Read more

Hi
Posted a topic before, thought the head gasket had gone on my 2.0 HDI but having got underneath it looks like one of the hoses at the rear that goes to or from what I think is an intercooler.
Has anyone else had this, looks really awkward to change.
Many thanks

Due to problems with trains on NXEA this evening, I picked my son up and took him to Witham to get his car. As I came off the A12 exit ramp at Witham there was a desolate looking shack pretty much in the middle of nothing on the left proclaiming "Balloons & Laughter" I thought the whole thing looked faintly creepy and menacing, I was expecting creepy clowns to come out, like in an Avengers episode. I'd hate to break down there in the middle of the night, I'd be petrified!

What a strange shop to have in the middle of nothing. Anyway, with laughter being in short supply right now, how much a kilo? Read more

That sounds like the kind of place that Mr Jelly/Jolly would get their balloon from. Is it near Psychoville?
