Yet another way of finding out...have a look at a Jamcam!

This, for example, is the situation right now at Junction 37 (Barnsley) on M1 looking north and showing the long slip roads:

Locate the Jamcam you want by entering 'Jamcam' in Google or, better still, via your local BBC radio station web site.

Enjoy!

Good stuff. You can also get all the uk trafficmaster info (showing queues, traffic speed) as well as the view of most cctvs live, as you need them on your mobile - albeit at £40 per year.

2003 - is it 2000 to 2003 model or 2003 on? Eitherway not too difficult to do though rather to difficult to explain here, suggest getting a Haynes manual.

Whatever you do disconnect the battery in case you trigger the airbags and before you do that makesure you have the radio code.

If 50% of bulbs gone it may be a wiring issue not bulbs gone.

A message to the retailers of Bury and Manchester. . .

I have never paid a congestion charge except when on business. If Manchester implements this SWMBO won't be taken shopping in Manchester again.

Up to them really but I don't think I will be in a minority.

I'm not one to start a filthy rumour, but after hearing on BBC Brekfast TV that there definitely was NOT a fuel shortage, how come the local Shell garage has been without diesel for 2 days at least, when they are usually on the ball. No, it's not a back-road operation, it's one of the biggest in Ipswich. To add to it, why are they queueing 7-8 cars at the remining petrol pumps. Is it me being paranoid? Or have I just started to undermine the UK economy?

maybe they can't afford to fill the tankers fuel tanks at these prices...

More than a ring of truth in the above.

Large, (sorry very large) petrol outlet said he kept 1.5-2 days stock at most as he gets daily deliveries - this is fine until demand rises due to unforseen events or the daily deliveries do not appear.

I used to pass it daily and at least 1 day/mth you would see say 6 pumps out of action and the remaining 6 with queues.

The reason he pays for the petrol & diesel in his tanks virtually on delivery (there is no payment due in 28 days) - another 100,000 litres in the ground tanks would cost him at the bank.

Mind you he has probably not sat down and worked out what 12 hours with pumps out of action costs.

I am think about changing my car and I will have a personal reg number to be transferred. As this will be the first time I've changed cars since buying the number I'm not 100% sure what needs to be done to carry this out. I believe it should be put on retention before I buy the other car - is that right? Presumably that involves being issued with a suitable replacement reg number to match the car's age - how does that work? Is it re-issued with the number it originally had when I bought it or is a number issued from a 'pool' of unused numbers? Is this is done by a local taxation office or can the whole process be done online or via post? One last question - if I am buying from a dealer (probably will be) do I just ask them to do the whole thing for me? Read more

"Although they did not win the challenge, the English team, from University College London, managed a respectable 11th place, crossing the finishing line after 63 hours and 43 minutes.

Their car, SolarFox (CRT), was built for just £70,000, one of the smallest budgets in the contest, and faced many £1 million machines like the Nuna4 from Holland that scooped first prize with a time of exactly 33 hours. "

Just a very simple question this time guys, is it possible to hook up a bettery charged to my TF without disconnecting the battery to give it a bit of a boost?

I've currently got an Optimate attached to it, but because I left it so long to sort it out the battery has half discharged and the Optimate is struggling to get the charge back up on it's own. I though 24 hours hooked up to a battery charger before reconnecting the Optimate may give it the boost it needs, but I don't fancy doing it if it will mean disconnecting the battery etc.

I am aware that I shouldn't start the car or anything whilst the battery is still charging, but was wondering if it would hurt to just leave it standing?

If you have a voltmeter; you can use your dad's battery charger - just monitor it regularly and ensure that the voltage doesn't get above about 14.4v.

If you have access to suitable old parts, a headlamp bulb fitted in the return line to the charger will slow the charge rate considerably and make the need for monitoring less frequent.

When did VED prices go up? I have just written a checque for my current car (for £140) and then realised that last year and the year before that the duty was only £125. I must have missed a pre-budget speech in which these increases were announced.

Just bought this with a 3 month warranty and 60,000 on the clock.

Noticed on a long run yesterday that it was misfiring under acceleration.

Apologies if this is already covered elsewhere - but any ideas to help the mechanic diagnose the problem?

Anybody know a good diesel mechanic in the Colchester/Ipswich area?

Many thanks

No - they are telegraph poles that you can see through trees. Without the lights on especially with dip beam it can be hard to see the light fittings when the lights are out. With the differing styles of light you might not recognise them as such.
