Car ( Volvo 240SE 1993, yes that one )is running rough so tapped into the Lambda ( Scope )signal and it is only crossing every few seconds and even then erratically. The car when hot is idling at about 1050 rpm ( High). Now if I crack the throttle open the voltage immediately drops to 0.1V and that is where it stays until you go back to idle then eventually it will cycle but very slowly and erratically. Time for a new Lambda I think. I can only summise that the 20 miles it was driven with no in tank pump ( Duff ) has starved the system of fuel and burnt the end off the sensor which has done 97K. Any opinions welcome. All this and still ne error codes. Thanks Guys. Regards Read more
I have finally got my Volvo fixed. It turns out that even a Bosch specialist had trouble finding the cause but eventual after having the Injectors cleaned 3 times but they still failed to meet the flow rate they where replaced, Although this solved the leaness issue the car sat at 1300 rpm, no faults and everything seemed to test out ok. However a tap on the AMM and the engine note chances but the ECU has still gone into default mode and no ICV signal, so a replacement AMM and instant return to smooth running.
Total bill £540 inc Ouuuch Regards Peter
Okie dokie, nothing like advanced planning.
There is a good chance I shall be driving to Ljubljana - next April. No cant fly due to the "cargo"
My sat nav stops at Austria tho Michelin web site covers it all the way - about 1300 kms Calais to Ljubljana.

Get up this morning to find my wing mirror glass missing.
No sign of broken glass on floor, so seems that someone has aquired it!
Halfords sell mirror glass, but this is designed to stick onto the broken mirror, as my mirror is missing (which was heated) I therefore require a complete mirror glass.
Does anyone know of an online supplier for such a thing, for a Honda Civic?
TIA Read more
if you dont manage to find it, be prepared for honda to charge you near £30+ for the glass and the plate it sits onto.
Skiddy
had a leak in one of the heater pipes which I exchanged but noticed after that the expansion tank was backing up.Heater not getting hot at all now feels like its an airlock but don't appear to be any release valve on this 1994 model coupe except for the one on the top of the block.
Engine not overheating normal operating level.
Also A/C working correctly.
Winter approaches.

Deffinetly need the rad cap off
It might be common knowledge already, but if you feel there isn't enough motoring stuff on Sky there's now another channel to feed your addiction...
Dedicated to the aspirational world of Audi, it's channel 259 on Sky.
Early days yet, but some good stuff on the Quatrro legend, lots of inside info on current Audis, and plenty of nice single make car eye candy.
It'll be great if a few more 'interesting' car manufacturers follow suit...
Cheers Read more
I too happened to come across the Audi channel this weekend whilst channel hopping and whenever I switched over it always seemed to be Anneka what-ya-call-her playing sloane ranger in a new A4.
Never watched more than a minute or two, the fact that the picture was constantly breaking up didn't help!
I have a Bosch 0280 212 016 Air Mass Meter on a Volvo 240. Does anyone know how to test this particular unit pin 1 and 2 are common. 2 to 3 measeures 3.2 ohms pins 1 to 4 measures 23.12K and 1 to 5 measures 21.22K Pin 6 O/C. Any help welcome. Thanks Peter Read more
More interesting tests. Engine cold Lambda heater resistance 12.2 ohms, all scoped up to the Lambda probe. Turn on open loop mode voltage reads 0.6V . 2 minutes later it starts to cycle slowly and erratically 0.15 to 0.9V Touch throttle and instantly drops to 0.15V and 10 seconds later starts to cycle again. Rev the engine and the level drops and on the overrun the level rises initially then falls to 0.15 and starts to cycle 15 seconds later. Hold the engine at 2500 rpm for 30 seconds solid0.12 volts back to idle 10 seconds later starts to cycle slowly again. When it is in cycle mode it averages 0.55V. So propane test gas on and a few second in and the voltage rises to 0.9v and engine rpm lists slightly gas off level slowly falls and 20 seconds later the sensor cycles again.
Engine running smoothly but at 1100 rpm instead of normal 900 ish. Engine doesn?t miss but clearly no idle control. I?ve checked all over for air leaks, vacuum pipes, leads feed and everything else. I am in the fortunate position of being able to swap to a spare ECU but exactly the same. Any ideas where to look next would be most welcome as I am bang my head on the garage wall here. "I saw saloon versions of both the Renault Clio and (worst of all) the Ford Fiesta. Both unbelievably ugly"
The saloon version of the Renault Clio is in fact that babe magnet the Renault Thalia, champion of the poor people. My uncle-in-law wants to replace his ageing Skoda with one. Time to re-marry.

Even the AX's best friend would say it loses out in terms of refinement and especailly crashworthiness.
However it's amazing how few cars can beat in terms of everything else. I certainly enjoyed the 60mpg from the 1 litre petrol AX, but my vote goes to the Peugeot 106 Rallye - much more fun to drive and (not saying much) more refined.
