Question 306 tacho
r1ch1e

Hi I have what was a 306d phase one, it had a clock in it next to speedo instead of tacho, anyway it now has a td engine and my speedo packed up so I got a replacemnt from a scrappy, the replacement has a tacho, but inside my car there isnt a plug for it. I know there is a sensor on the flywheel and its is connected to the loom, so I am guessing its just the internal loom. A freind looked at the back of his s16 with tacho and that has a blue plug (the one I'm missing) and it only has one wire going to it. I have been told that the tacho works of a pulse signal? Does anyone know if this is true and if it is, how can I locate a pulse signal on the internal loom to connect it up?
Thanks

does any one know what im up against ?
i was driving to my mates, got out of the car, as i turned engine off the horn seemed to beep,
thinking nothing of it i tried to arm the remote locking but it didnt work,
as i wasnt going in i ignored it as it has done this before and i just thought it might be remote batteries!
when i came back to the car i again tried the remote but still nothing,
i got in the car and turned key, got a message as it started up saying alternator fault, i thought it was strange but more so as i noticed the head lights flashing with a mind of their own !
theres nothing i can do to stop them flashing, other than turn the ignition off,
turning lights on does nothing and ive found all electrics are not working,
lights,windows,seats,mirrors,roof,all are dead
does anyone have any clues or ideas ?
better still has it happened to you before ?

Hello, today i saw an Audi TT (nearly new conv) park near our home and then pick up a thug from half way up the road and drive away. The idiot driving was/appeared to be about 18?

Since around 1998 it has been mandatory to fit immobilisers in all new cars sold in the uk. Can these be easily be driven away without the real car keys?? Or is this for the big time boy\'s and those that steal car keys from the ownners homes/bags/pockets?

Thanks Read more

what a silly thread. Locked.

Because I\'ve been asked why - your question may have been reasonable, but your terminology/assumptions were needlessly inflamatory.

And the thread was spending more time dicussing the wording of your question than it was discussing the question itself.

Finally, when it gets to people saying they\'re never comign here again, its all got too poinless for words.

Mark.

A quick question on BMW 320I engines.
I'm choosing between a 1991 H and 1992 J model- My question is, will the 1992 E36 model have the same engine as the 1991 E30 model, or did they change the engines between the E30 and E36 models and them change them again in 1994 to have the chain cam version?
Thanks

22.6 mpg on the 5 miles to the golf club, 35 miles at 22 mpg in an average rush hour, 30-35 mpg on a clear motorway. My 2L VW golf GTI does 1/3 more mpg on the same routes. I only wish my auto BMW would select top gear before 52mph.

Don't know what driving manual this was from, but I bet it's interesting reading...

Coming home from work last night, car tearing up bus lane(during operational hours) on n/s. Rapidly catching some other moron half in bus lane, he decides not to bother slowing down, but with 2 wheels & half the car on the pavement, pulls off a great undertaking manouvre & speeds on!

10/10 for style, execution & sheer brass...

Have you seen anything better (or should that read worse)? Read more

Yes, sadly there is a road in Edinburgh - where drivers have a want to do this to get by (half up on the pavement) - it's only a matter of time....

wine...........................wine.........................wine

not constant, intermident, but regular 1 second intervals lasting for half a second.

if it serious i would take it to the dealer as its 52 reg but its just inconvenient.

Your whine could well be cam belt tensioner.it was a common problem on early escorts.ie cam belt being overtightened causes premature wear of bearing.
