Anyone else had their BSI fried by a garage doing the odometer upgrade on their 307. Mine has. Read more
But it is for a motoring holiday, and I\'ve been offered so much good advice on here for other parts of the holiday [makes hurt little puppy eyes at moderators]
OK, so assuming this hasn\'t been deleted, here\'s my question:
We have economy flights booked with BMI across to Chicago, then an American Airline to LA.
I was thinking about the possibility of getting the seats upgraded, since it\'s such a long flight, and it\'s our honeymoon.
Anyone got any experience of trying to get upgrades?
Obviously favourite would be a free upgrade, but am I best ringing and asking about paying for one, but mentioning the honeymoon?
Or should I wait until I get to the check-in desk, so I can re-use the puppy dog eyes that worked so well on the moderators? Read more
I'll let you know the result, although you'll have to wait till I get back. Don't think stopping off on the honeymoon to check HJ woul;dn't be popular :D
Hi Guys,
My Polo (P reg) has developed a slight burning smell when I'm in reverse.
The car had a new clutch put in Jan 2003.
Its going in to the garage on Wednesday for rear brake change, so I'll mention it to them then, but was hoping someone here might be able to suggest something.
Cheers in advance

Thanks for the replies. i've mentioned it to the garage so they'll look at it later on. I'm guessing the oil option is possible. Hopefully its not too serious!
Does anyone know where I could find some information about the forthcoming Citroen C4?

I was stopped by the police in my C3 diesel.
Apparently the speed it was proceeding on some minor roads near Leeds aroused suspicion that it may be stolen. When I asked if it was my last overtake (past a bus on a narrowish road) that had caused suspicion, it was commented that the overtake was fine and I had had a good look before overtaking.
I didn't realise it was a police car following me, as it was dark!

Green cars are unlucky, so it is said.
I hadn't heard this one before, but it got me thinking about motoring superstitions.
Does anyone have any others to share with us? Read more
And that "flippin" Audi of mine that STILL ISN'T FIXED is green.
I'll try to keep this short...
Does anybody know the name of the website where you can register your vehicle and be paid to have advertising stickers put all over it?

I'll carry an advert for the BR if HJ is interested!
Or perhaps I could drive around in dodgy hat & shades?
This is the last time I will ever talk about our vauxhall carlton!.
We are scrapping it tonight as the continual problems are costing us a fortune and after all it is 13 years old!
Anyway we have a dealer who is coming to collect it tonight he has said he will drive it away. However it has a SORN notice on it. This dealer said that if he puts trade plates on it this is OK he also said that he will give us a receipt saying what time he collected it, it also has no brake lights! Is this legal I just want to be sure we will have no comeback from this!
pS Have bought 2 newer cars a 1999 Vectra 16v. And a 1999 Fiesta 1.25 Zetec. I am so chuffed Read more
As long as he has his trade plates on then it is okay for him to drive it on the road with regards to the SORN. The fact that it has no brake lights does technically make it unroadworthy and therefore he should not drive it on the road, but once the paperwork is complete it is not your problem as to whether he is willing to take the risk of getting caught or not.
I would suggest though that it is not your place to tell the DVLA that you have scrapped the car. You should only ever do that if it is YOU that takes it to be dismantled at a breakers yard or take it to be weighed in for its metal value. Seeing as you are merely transfering the vehicle to a trader then you should treat the situation and paperwork as such.
Hi, just wondered if you were still looking for pictures of fiesta\'s with the tide on them?

hi
the engine is pretty gutless until about 2500rpm then the turbo kicks in. 58mpg would mean that your injecters are ok, you could try using the turbo style of driving ie put your foot down a couple of seconds before you need the power.

I recently noticed on a friends Golf VR6 62K what sounds like a timing chain rattle from low down on the O/S engine casing. I thought this engine has full duplex chains and auto tensioner design for the like of the engine any ideas. Regards Peter Read more
I'm glad I got rid of my VR6 now!
......but I still miss that sweet engine note!

Sorry, I was in a hurry.
BSI is the computer that runs all the multiplex wired bits of the car. Basically, if the BSI don't work, nothing works. Peugeot recalled 307s to have a software patch downloaded to fix an odometer problem, and it seems that if the internet connection fails during the download, you need a new computer. It seems to have been happening fairly frequently and I'm hoping that everyone who has problems will contact Watchdog on the Beeb so that they will follow up an item they ran some time ago,
