Is it better than or worse than a Ferrari?
Can anyone explain why the price of diesel hasn't dropped in line with that of unleaded petrol.
Up until a week or so ago there was a 1p per litre difference betwen unleaded and diesel around my area (UL=74.9, diesel 75.9).
Today unleaded is selling for 69.9 whilst diesel remains at 75.9. Surely the low price of crude oil should mean that diesel prices should have been reduced aswell. This is particularly frustrating having bought my first ever diesel 2 weks ago (Passat 1.9Tdi) Read more
Isn't it also about not as many planes are flying, so the demand for avionic fuel [kerosene, I think] has dropped, so they have dropped the price of petrol. Or should this have dropped the cost of diesel aswell? Maybe trying to get their profits back up with cost of diesel

The other day i noticed that a police car traveling at 50+ mph in a 30 zone with it's sierns and lights blaring didnt set off our local GATSO camera! Not even a flash!
Does this mean that the camera that they have installed is a dummy box or that the police have some way of turning off the camera as they race by? I would love to know!

I think you'll find it's because only a proportion of Gatsos have a camera in them at one time. The camera/radar units are moved about. Your camera was probably empty at the time.
My girlfriends younger sister is about to embark upon driving lessons within the next couple of months, and it is likely that , as they did for my girlfriend, her parents will buy her a car for her 17th.
Now against all my advice at the time, they bought my gf a 2 / 3 year old fiesta. This has been a pig of a car - it constantly cuts out at idle despite repeated visits to the garage and has the heaviest steering of any car I have ever driven. really basic equipment levels, uncomfortable seats and the beginnings of rust complete the picture.
Knowing how unsatisfactory this car has been, thay have turned to me for advice on what to get for their little treasure in the region of 7k. Now I know that they won't touch auctions with a bargepole and would prefer to buy from a dealership rather than private sale, so as I see it the best 2 options are:
Mk3 VW Polo 1.0 / 1.4
Toyota Yaris 1.0 VVT-i 16v
Any thoughts anyone ? I'm leaning towards the toyota, but perhaps somwone can put me straight ?

Get a Yaris I would go for the T-Sport it has streatcred looks amazinin and isn't classed as a "boy raser" car but it shifts ! & is very easy to drive

Nevertheless, unless you have admissible proof that there was intent to deceive you, please don't use the firm's name here in The Back Room, however disguised it is with asterisks. You might be sued. Worse, *I* might be sued. (There's nothing to stop you saying, for example, 'a well-known fast-fit franchise', which we'll all recognise anyway.)

I was reporting a true occurrence. and I am adamant that the work was not required. I negotiated the price down to £230 plus a free Oil and Filter change so I didn't feel so bad in the end, however we as a nation should object to this type of dishonesty. Why doesn't HJ do an investigation, he was spot on in his guide to dishonest scams, why not collect soem evidence - name and shame ?
