October 2001

Cute retro-looking Jeep Cherokee with new, lighter 3.7 litre V6 petrol offering 211bhp and 235lb ft torque at 3,800rpm driven through automatic transmission. Zero to 60 of 10.5 seconds, top speed 112mph, combined consumption 19.3mpg, CO2 output 347g/km. Length: 4,496mm, width: 1,819mm, height: 1,866mm; weight: 1,867kg; towing weight: 2,250kg.

September 2002

Also from September 2002, new 143bhp 2.8 litre common rail diesel engine putting out 253 lb ft (343Nm) torque at 2,000 rpm with standard autobox. 145bhp 2.4 litre petrol four from January 2002, priced £17,815. Useful 10 inches (244mm) ground clearance. Price of 3.7: £23,145 as from October 2001 UK launch.

January 2006

For 2006 Jeep Cherokee came equipped with ESP (Electronic Stability Program) and a tyre pressure monitoring system as standard across the model range. The Sport model also has alloy wheels and a spare wheel cover as standard while the Limited model features sat-nav, part-leather trimmed heated seats and an electric sunroof as standard, all for £1,035 less than the 2005 models. 2.4 petrol engine dropped.
