Noisy engine

I have a Vauxhall Vectra 2.2 petrol 02 plate, I bought the car about two weeks ago and when I bought the car the owner did point out the noise. He said he didnt know what it was.

When I start the car up after it's been off for a while (ie in the mornings) it sounds like there is something rattling in the engine, but after about 20 mins the noise dies away.

Timing chain tensioner. Very common problem with this model. Change the oil, but don't use an engine flush in case the flush dislodges a bit of carbon that then blocks the oil feed to the timing chain tensioner.

Far better than previous Vectra. Now with decent handling and an excellent ride. Plenty of safety kit. Roomy in the front. Big boot. Good looks.
