Used Japanese models and DMFs/DPFs

I am contemplating swapping my trusty 04 plate Honda Accord Tourer 2.0EX petrol for either a 58 or 09 plate Accord Tourer diesel or Mazda 6 Estate diesel.

But what about DPF and DMF problems which seem to afflict diesels these days? Would they make them uneconomical as a used buy? I do about 12,000 miles a year and get 35mpg from my present Accord (measured over 5000m). Will I end up paying more for a used diesel with these possibly expensive problems, or are such issues less likely with Japanese reliability?

My present Honda has cost me nothing outside routine services over 105,000 miles, so far.

The Accord 2.2iCRDI did not have a DPF but was not available as an auto so has a DMF. The Accord 2.2iDTEC does have a DPF, but is also available as a torque converter auto which does not need a DMF.
