VAT chance

I should be grateful for your advice regarding the following. On the 29th of November 2009 I paid the full price for my new car, which was to be delivered in March 2010. The dealer gave me a receipt for the full amount. VAT was charged at 15.5% at the time. The dealer has now sent me an invoice (just an invoice without any covering letter explaining why) for a further 2.5% (£425.89). As I bought and paid for the car (Skoda Superb) prior to the reintroduction of 17% VAT I don't feel like paying this extra amount of VAT. For the moment I have not contacted the Dealer. I have little doubt that he will eventually contact me again but before they do I should be grateful for any advice you can give me.

The rates are 15% and 17.5%. And no. You paid the full invoiced price for your car at 15% in November and that was when the tax point occurred. You do not owe any further VAT on the car at all.
