  Hi Guys. First post on honest john. looking for a little bit of independatnt advice. Got myself a 1.6 ford focus zetec X reg. Nothing special just a family run around. 64K genuine mileage just had a full service. At the service they changed the front brakes and the front right shock. (apparently the shock had leaked onto the brake causing unusual brake wear??

• Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - What to do with my car? [Read Only] 15 Dec 2009 (Forum)
  I put a message here at the weekend (now removed?) concerning a fault with my Mondeo. It has been at the Ford garage since last week and they have now confirmed that it needs a new Turbo. The fault is as described by one of you. It has a motor on top of the turbo and that motor has failed. Ford cannot supply the motor alone, and so I have to buy the two together.

  I set about looking at alternative solutions and opted for roof bars and cycle carriers. Having checked the Ford website and Accessories catalogue I was able to source the correct authentic Ford roof bars and Thule 591 roof carriers from EBay (both used). Last week I went to fit the roof bars for the first time, removed the blanking plates from the roof of the car only to find there are no screwholes underneath, Just painted metal.

• Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 2003 2.0 Flashing glowplug light & engine turning 8 Feb 2009 (Forum)
  Fuel pump disintegrating or being blocked which in turn could be affecting the injectors Apparently there have been a number of Ford service bulletins about TDCI Mondeos cutting out. Some have talked about a failure of the block connector for the fuel pressure sensor. A kit containing the connector was made available. It seems it is a well known problem with the ford/jaguar pumps that due to the new non sulpher diesel not lubricating the pump as well as it should, the pump starts to break up and contaminate the hole system.

  I’m looking at peugeot 5008’s from 2018 onwards. Can anyone tell me whether the auto gearbox is a torque convertor type or a clutch type (like dsg units). Dealer told me single clutch unit but I’m sure I read torque convertor online (unless that related to older model)??

  Hi, Noticed in one of HJ's responses in the Telegraph a recommendation that 4x4's were a good idea with today's poorly-repaired roads and traffic 'calming' measures. What I am wondering is this - is a stiffly-sprung 'sports' suspension set-up, or a softly-sprung 'exec' type set-up, on a normal car, better or worse with regards potential damage ?

• Audi A4 - Audi Concert CD Player shows CD Error 18 Mar 2015 (Forum)
  The Concert CD player on my 2003 A4 will no longer load CD s. Even the Cleaner CD fails to load. Can anyone suggest a solution or failing this can I replace the whole unit with one from Halfords or does this affect the head up display ?

• Peugeot 106 Zest - Lambda Sensor 4 Apr 2012 (Forum)
  I have just had my fault code read on my car is the fault is coming back as the Lambda sensors, but apparently there are 2 sesnors, one within view of the engine bay and the other down the system somewhere. Other 106's only seem to have 1 sensor, why does mine have two and where abouts is it?

  The outer cover on the N/S headlamp is broken and needs replacing.  Does the bumper need taking off to get the headlamp out of its hole in the bodywork?  I've undone the two screws at the top and the clip at the left lower corner, but can't see how it is secured at the lower right corner.

  I had to change the battery on my wifes old Fiesta. I have a keycode in my audio guide that doesn't work. It says S/N M032361, Key code 4634. Is the code correct for that serial? If it is I suppose I'll have to take the unit out to check the serial number! Thanks in advance

  Hi, My Toyota Corolla 2000 makes a sort of grinding noise when in gear, but out of gear the engine is its usual quiet self. My Toyota dealer reckons that my the gearbox has a worn bearing(s) (output?). Could the fault be a clutch related, though? I wonder, as the car is now at 110,000 miles. Anything else?!
