  • changing ford antifreeze 24 Sep 2002 (Forum)
I'm just coming to do the 60,000 mile service on my 1998 Mondeo 1.8LX and was thinking of changing the coolant. However, my handbook says this is not necessary as Ford's coolant will last the life of the car. Any opinions on whether I should change it or not?
  • Which tested fastfit garages 21 Feb 2001 (Forum)
Worth reading. Ford Rapidfit came out well. ATS and Quickfit critisized. According to local Ford rapidfit they do the same as Ford garage just up road. However they do not provide courtesy car and are cheaper!
  • Is the 1.0-litre Ford Fiesta reliable? 8 Jul 2021 (Ask HJ)
Various published reports state that the Ford Ecoboost 1.0-litre is suspect in reliability at higher mileage. Is this true?
  • Ford Warranty - People's Experiences 15 Jul 2010 (Forum)
I have yet to hear back from Ford regarding what % they are going to pay, but I'm hoping for something in the range of 80-100%. Ford do have an Extended Warranty programme but when I asked 3 different dealers about it they couldn't tell me how much it costs or what it covers.
  • Wonderful Range Rover USA service 13 Dec 2001 (Forum)
Perhaps some of you would be interested in how Ford is treating the owners of some of it's newly aquired assets over here in the U.S.A. When I got back to the US from my 6 weeks in the UK this fall I found that my 1989 Range Rover (US Spec 3.6L V8 about the same as a UK Vogue spec will all options) Had leaked its fuel into the dirt of my driveway...

  • Toyota X - Scared to buy a car 3 Sep 2024 (Forum)
I know the car I'd like (Toyota X), but it's so daunting to buy one. I just don't think the sales guys take me serious when I go. My budget is max £13k which I have saved for these past 17 years. Any advice please/or car make suggestions? ??.   I just want a good reliable car of course, as I've had to pay £500 on my current one for one thing or another and I don't think it's right to keep paying so much on an old jalopy!
  • Peugeot 307 - Coolant temperature issue 4 Sep 2018 (Forum)
The main one is the coolant temperature. On the dash, after around 10 mins, the indicator flies up to max and the STOP sign beeps on the dash. It doesnt stay there permanently - it drops down below half way from time to time only to shoot back up. I know very little about cars other than to say there doesnt feel anything wrong nor is it making any unusual sounds.

  • Volkswagen Passat - VW Passat vs Vauxhall Astra vs Skoda Octavia 18 Aug 2016 (Forum)
I am currently looking at buying a new car and can't decide which, so I thought I would post here and get some help..I am currently looking at 3 options being: VW Passat 1.9TDI  Vauxhall Astra Estate 1.7CDTI ecoflex (110bhp) Skoda Octavia 1.9TDI Which car would you recomend for reliability and MPG? All cars are high mileage due to my budget (max £3000) so is it a given that I will need to spend money on it when I get it (mainly cambelt and waterpump)? I travel 2 long trips a week on the motorway the rest of the time is on B roads and around town.

  • SEAT Ibiza III - 2008 Ibiza 1.2 Reference Sport Thoughts? 1 Aug 2013 (Forum)
The car suits what I need, practical enough for me,  mostly drive short journeys (5 miles max) every day to and from work, on a mixture of urban and national speed limit dual carriage ways, with the occasional jaunt further afield on motorways and into cities. I've driven a number of Ibiza over the years from old J plates to new diesels and I'm happy with the comfort and general driving experience.
  • Drop Off On A Bus Stop, camera N.I.P 31 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Advice required please: My mother in law recently dropped myself & 2 8 yo kids outside Hounslow East train station, on a bus stop: You know the score, following the bus, bus pulls away,  belts off in anticipation, we drive in, hop out , driver pulls away 10 seconds max, no one inconvenienced, everyone happy.............Except........... she has just received a parking fine with photo for parking on a bus stop. She has paid the fine as she has just appealed against another ticket (and won) because the ticketing officer didn't see the ticket stuck to her windscreen.

I checked the oil (paranoia) and I had overfilled. I have managed to remove a super tight sump drain plug and the level is now 3/4 the way to max. Also appears to be having remote key unlock / lock problems. Perhaps the engine is imobilised? Does anyone have any ideas?
