  Please can anybody whether I can fix the following simply at home or whether it needs a garage? I have a 1998 Ford Mondeo. The digital clock only works when I switch the lights on. As soon as I switch the lights off it turns off. On my previous Mondeo this never happened. I mentioned it to my Ford Garage and they seemed mystified.

  Hi Would Ford Ka owners give me an idea of what my servicing costs are likely to be. Fords offer three years servicing plus two years RAC breakdown cover for £470. This is based on the first two services costing £140 each and the third at £190 with basically the cost of the RAC cover thrown in.

  I was changing the oil in a friend's Ford Ka the other day. I noticed rather than more usual 10W40 the old Valencia Engine in it took 10W30. Now this seemed odd to me so I did some checking. It *seems* that the Zetec engine requires 10W30 and Ford *may* be recommending the same oil just to be consistent over their entire range.

  Hiya, I've just bought a x reg focus zetec, but it has a Ford 4000 stereo in it. I'm still trying to sell my old p reg escort which had a ford 5000 cd compatible stereo - is it worth swapping this for the one in the focus because at some stage I want to buy a cd player\autochanger or is better buying an aftermarket cd changer pack and but the fascias to fill the gaps ??

  The information is a bit woolly and all I have been told is that it doesn't work! I haven't looked at the car yet and don't have recent experience of Fords, so I don't want to take the car apart if it is a simple, well known problem Have any Backroomers experience of the Ford electrics? and how do I take the door trim off, if necessary?

  My Dad has an Oct '97 Ford Mondeo 1.8, and every time he switches the air conditioning on, the car appears to "judder" and runs very unevenly. As soon as it is switched off, it reverts back to running smoothly. It's been checked out by a Ford dealer, who says "surging" is normal when the air conditioning is switched on and off.
