  Supercharged Jags were strong too with £32,600 paid for a 35k mile 02 XKR 4.0 coupe and £32,850 bid for an 03 S-Type 4.2R. Still on Jags, an 8,000 mile 03 XJ6 Sport auto bid to £28,800. The first W211 E Class I’ve seen under £20k was a 47k mile 02 E220CDI Classic auto, sold for £19,500, while a 14k mile 03 E200 1.8 Kompressor Elegance auto bid to £21,200.

  A 43k unwarranted 2001Y Honda S2000 sold for £17,950; a 14k mile 2001/51 Freelander V6ES sold for £12,675; a 58k mile 2000X BMW 523iSE manual sold for £10,950 and even a 90k mile 99T Jaguar S Type 3.0V6SE auto made £9,250. And there’s always something if I had the time and space. Today it would have been a 92k mile 95M Mercedes W124 E200 auto, sold for £3,000.

  You could have had a 47k mile 98S 540 auto for £14,700, or an almost identical 47k mile 98S 535 auto for £13,500. Seduced by an S-Type? A 64k mile 2000V 4.0V8 sold for £14,100. Lusted after a Lotus? A new shape 7,000 mile 2001/51 Elise bid to a provisional £16,100. Promised someone special an SLK? A 44k kilometre 99T 200K six-speed, which has been making regular Top Car appearances, could have been yours and hers for £13,750.

  Top bid took it to £2,900 provisional. It wasn’t all like that. The book was spot on for a 92,405 mile 99T S-Type Jag 3.0 litre V6 manual with no extras to speak of but in a fetching shade of light metallic blue. The estimate for 90,000 miles was £9,900. Top bid was £9,575. So reckon it probably came for £9,750.

  In fact, you’d have to cast your eyes back to 2016 to find the Trafic even among the yearly best-sellers. And even then it was still behind key rivals, like the Ford Transit Custom, Volkswagen Transporter and Vauxhall Vivaro. Given its mixed fortunes, it’s perhaps understandable that for 2019 Renault has given the Trafic the most extensive overhaul since it was launched in 2014.

  Saltford's Steven Jensen who secured his first win of the year in the circuit's Formula Ford 1600 championship at the last event. Although Jensen has a nine point championship lead the three other race winning drivers are snapping at his heels and one tiny error could change the complexion of the standings completely.

  Former F1 and Touring Car Aces Line Up For Silverstone Classic 14 Jul 2011 (News)
  John Cleland, BTCC champion in 1989 and 1995, will race in the E-type Challenge, while BTCC race winners Paul Radisich (Elva Mk7), Mike Jordan (Lotus Cortina) and Patrick Watts (Ford Mustang) are all competing. Radisich also won the FIA World Touring Car Cup in 1993 and 1994. Other drivers with a BTCC campaign under their belt include Andy Middlehurst (Lotus 25), Charlie Butler-Henderson (Cooper T56) and Tony Crudgington (Chevrolet Corvette), while the story comes right up to date with 2011 BTCC contender Rob Austin racing his Arrows A4 in Grand Prix Masters.

   Fisher is also due to appear alongside his younger brother Felix in the circuit's Formula Ford 1600 Championship race which has seen Felix involved in a pair of consecutive incidents with 2009 champion, Ben Norton from Bratton. Along with the now dominant championship leader, Marcus Allen, Fisher and Norton have been the fastest men on the track and would be at the head of the points table were it not for two similar accidents with  each other at the last two meetings.
