  • VW Tiguan - Haggling with franchised dealer? 2 May 2018 (Forum)
I am looking to buy a late 2015/2016 VW Tiguan 2.0 TDi BlueMotion Match Edition Manual 2WD, after my old Tiguan was stolen and written off. I have narrowed it down quite specifically as it is possible then to compare prices and spec.
  • Are the known tyre sensor faults on my Renault Clio grounds for it to be replaced? 25 Apr 2017 (Ask HJ)

  • GAP Insurance 19 Dec 2016 (Forum)
They were registered with the FCA so no issues with them being dodgy. When the wife bought her Note in 2015 we repeated the excercise, same company, good price, about £130. Both were way less than the dealers were asking. Early November both myself and the wife got letters from a liquidator in Gibraltor telling us the insurance company had failed with large debts and cover had ceased in October.
  • Bathroom dispute 11 Oct 2016 (Forum)
In 2015 I hired a company to refit my bathroom whilst I was on holiday. On return we found the job incomplete. We paid 75% of the total bill but the remainder was to be paid on completion, 'when you are satisfied'.
  • KIA Rio - Lead to apply for finance on a car that was sold 28 Sep 2016 (Forum)
The salesman came over agreed a budget and i outlined the specs i required (handsfree, aircon, dab radio etc). Came up with a good deal on a 2015 Rio SR7 with only 8000 miles on PCP so i went ahead and applied for finance. My credit rating is only average so i got refused by the first lender but then we applied with another and i was accepted and left the dealership as the car was on another forecourt further away waiting for a phonecall today (monday).
  • Audi A3 Sportback - Parked car hit by another driver... 1 Jul 2016 (Forum)
The car was parked legally, I was not in the vehicle and the other driver has accepted full responsibility. It was a 2015 plate Audi A3 and the garage reckon it may be a write off as the driver has actually pushed the front left tyre towards the back of the car but "can't confirm until we've informed the insurance companies".
  • BMW 1 Series - Advice needed - reject options? 9 May 2016 (Forum)
I have purchased a 1 Series BMW last week, 2008 model and after a few days use I noticed an uneven noise on the engine which it seems may be the timing chain issue (these were temporarily repaired free by BMW but the period closed end of 2015. There is also apparently a need to replace the turbocharger.  What are my options - given the above two problems, which could be costly down the line, I am thinking I should return for refund - the car was advertised as having full service history (and I was told this verbally), and I was also told verbally that "1 series are chain driven and won't ever need replacing".
  • Bought used car last week, engine light on two days ago 5 Apr 2016 (Forum)
I understand that the Consumer Rights Act, as of Oct 2015, gives a right to reject the vehicle within 30 days of purchase for a full refund if it is not fit for purpose or it is not as described or if it is not of satisfactory quality. I feel my case fall within this scope.
  • When should I change the oil in my SEAT Leon TSI? 31 Jan 2016 (Ask HJ)

  • Renault Clio - Handbrake loose - caused by 'repairs' garage 29 Jan 2016 (Forum)
Repairer confirmed they did no work on my car other than replace bumper.   They claim wear and tear.  My car was serviced and drums fine in Sept 2015.   I don't do any heavy driving, no harsh braking and I do not park on any steep hills with handbrake on.   I'd like some opinions and advice please...  I'm not mechanically minded and I'm female so I feel the garage think they are going to just take the **** and make me pay for a repair I don't need.

  • Volvo & Kawasaki ZZR 1100 - Bio-Ethanol inclusion 14 Feb 2015 (Forum)
Hi There, I was absolutley amazed at your inclusion of  a jocker juggling chain saws & the concise/stilted 'EXPERT'advice rendered in the article of the 14/02/2015. (G.P. Dartmoor) It is not so simpilistic as 'emulsification' -the inclusion of BE into petrol & used in engines built before 2006 degrades the tanks, fuel lines & fuel seals, pumps, carburettors, early fuel pumps & injector rails.

  • Mercedes E class 250 cdi 2012 - Section 75 advice 8 Jan 2014 (Forum)
I noted some noise (druaght of air) from rear window which was annoyingbut since nothing serious I didn't immediately seek advice knowing car was still covered under warranty until Jan 2015. Yesterday I took the car to my local Mercedes dealer in Loghton who tested and agreed there was a problem but the nosie was from air coming in via ill fitted rear door. they believe door was stripped for some reason(?
