  So I think I'll stick to v-power diesel for now. Just would like to know what others think of it and if anyone prefers v-power diesel over bp ultimate or vice versa?

  As soon as I fill up with either the old version of V-power or the latest product, the rotten egg smell goes from my Mazda6 Sport 5k. It seems to be worse on Sainsbury's petrol, better with normal Shell and goes with V-Power. Any ideas how this can be?

  I noticed with some surprise that the Turkish Grand Prix was sponsored by Shell V-Power. V-Power has been going for several years in Germany where it is advertised as 100 Octane. When I got to my local Shell station all the Optimax pumps were marked V-Power! Can't imagine all the petrol had magically changed, though!

  At the weekend, I was amused to see that Shell is rolling out an updated version of its V-Power premium fuel, called V-Power Nitro+. Unfortunately, it contains no nitromethane, so it will not give your vehicle the performance of a top fuel dragster.  However, it does contain "25% more friction modifier" than its predecessor.

  I believe it is this time of year that winter diesel is being sold and a resulting loss of economy. Would V Power diesel be likely to provide better economy during winter? Thanks

  Hello, I have had a Shell Driver's Club card for a few years, a couple of months ago they sent me a V-Power Club card, apparently this offers additional benefits on the purchase of V-Power fuel though points can also be accrued on purchases of normal Shell fuel. I now have a letter saying that following the withdrawal by Citi of the Shell Mastercard I will be able to collect double points on my Shell Driver's Club card account, no mention of the V-Power Club card.

  I have gone back to regular Shell unleaded from using V-Power and although the car is very slightly less responsive, it is clearly achieving a higher mpg. Your thoughts welcome.

  I was wondering what the difference is between V-Power diesel and normal diesel fuel Is it like super unleaded petrol but for diesel (i.e. potential to make the car go a bit quicker) ? Sorry to sound thick but I genuinely do not know.

  Anyone think that the HPFP may be ruined? As an aside the pump at the Shell station I was using only had regular unleaded, V-Power unleaded and V-Power diesel. Shell use the same colour "pump shrouds" for both V-Power unleaded and diesel. Surely i can't be the only person that thinks this is a bit daft?

  I have been using Millers eco max power as an additive since i got the car now 4 years old 38k , thinking of using Shell V power  that HJ reccomends but i havn't got a Shell station near me but i have a BP so i can get BP Ultimate  but is the BP Ultimate as good as Shell or shall i keep using Millers Eco Max power.

  I noticed my car puff out a bit of black smoke the other day which it never ever normally does. I'm wondering if this is the detergents and additives in V-Power diesel loosening and cleaning the injections etc Has anyone noticed this excess smoke happen; i know for some diesel cars this one could be tricky ;)

  Evening guys, I own a 64 plate Mini Cooper SD, I'm looking for your thoughts on V Power diesel? I've noticed it's around 8p per litre more, is it worth it? If it provides better performance & more MPG then it would be worth it, but it appears there is a bit of an ongoing debate about whether or not it is actually worth it.

  I would be interested to hear what extra price people are paying for using V Power rather than regular fuel. When it was first introduced V Power (near me) was 3 or 4 pence a litre more than the standard Fuelsave but that seems to be getting bigger and bigger. For the last few months the average premium at the Shell stations has been around 11 or 12 pence.

  I just wanted to endorse HJ's recommendation of Shell V-Power Diesel.  Last week on a 400 mile run from Dijon using a mixture of Shell V-Power and BP Ultimate Diesels I pulled into our Hotel in Carcassonne showing an average of 49.6 mpg for the journey.
