V-Power - no more rotten eggs - J1mbo
As soon as I fill up with either the old version of V-power or the latest product, the rotten egg smell goes from my Mazda6 Sport 5k. It seems to be worse on Sainsbury's petrol, better with normal Shell and goes with V-Power.

Any ideas how this can be? I assume its a good sign!

Surely the smell of rotten eggs ( H2SO4 - Hydrogen Sulphate?) ended when low sulphur fuel was introduced?

Hydrogen sulphide, I think (H 2 S). Unless the low-suplhur explanation is right, perhaps it's an indication of the better cleansers in V-Power.

If its the same as V power in Germany its something to do with the fact its 100 octane

Its 99 Octane, perhaps the engine (2.3) is better suited to it. The smell has gone 100%, was quite bad. When reversing into driveway the interior fan picks it up and fills the cabin with the smell!

Something is wrong if you have this smell. Maybe the car was once misfuelled with diesel and the sulphur is being liberated from the exhaust catalyst??

Owned it since new!
