  Noticed on the 'Car by Car' breakdown that the Primera was axed in October - didn't realise this. Do Nissan have a replacement lined up? I reckon the current ones are bargains secondhand but visually look awful compared to the Mondeo or Vectra - all that flat metal, no side strips on doors and high waistline.

  My 53 reg Nissan X Trail was recalled by Nissan to a local garage in Romford 8 days before I was due to take it to the south of France. The recall was for timing chain and tensioner replacement. They replaced both and the parts failed or were fitted wrong.

  The Irish do seem to love Nissans. There were loads of Almeras - many the 4 door saloon - Notes and Qashqais. I noticed at a dealer that they were giving 3 years VED on some Qashqais which is worth quite a bit since the Irish green car tax is eye watering though their petrol is less expensive then ours.

  Part of me says that the discounts they\'re offering me on the car are great, but I\'m suffering from the Great British \'what if?\' Went to my Nissan dealer and laid down my quote from uk-car-discount. He basically said he couldn\'t match it \"apart from a silver model, and that\'s based on us seeing your Punto\". I got the impression that he resigned himself from the start to me buying elsewhere.

  I see new VW ID3’s sitting at our local dealer at well over £30k and that’s just daft. A new big battery Leaf is closing in on £35k according to the local Nissan dealer who tried unsuccessfully to convince me of its value. I do however see the economic argument of what we have here. A good used Nissan Leaf at under £15,000 can make for an excellent commuter car or taxi.
