RMI warns of upcoming petrol price increases 9 Aug 2010 (News)
The rise towards the end of the month is being blamed on currency movements and world oil price increases. But of greater concern is the cost of petrol and diesel in early 2011. Planned increases in fuel duty in October and January and a 2.5 per cent increase in VAT could push prices up as high as 125.9p per litre. The previous highest cost for a litre of unleaded was 121.6p per litre RMI Petrol chairman Brian Madderson said: "The rebound in crude oil pricing is disappointing but not entirely unexpected. -
New car shoppers to get additional engine options 21 Dec 2009 (News)
Peugeot fans on the market for a new car could be interested in the new engine options that have been added to the 207 Verve range. Currently available with a 1.4-litre 8v bhp petrol and 1.4-litre HDi 70 diesel engine, new models will come with the possibility of a 1.4 VTi 95 bhp and a 1.6 HDi 90 diesel from January 2010. The new models get an added boost to fuel efficiency in the form of the Gear Shift indicator. -
New Golf to be launched in June 30 Mar 2009 (News)

Each of the new vehicles - the Astra estate, five-door hatch and sports hatch - are available in a range of trims and are beneficial to both the environment and the wallet, according to the manufacturer. It notes all of the new ecoFLEX models fall within the lowest diesel band for Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) tax, with an estimated combined fuel consumption of 62.8mpg. "These all new Astras tick both tax and cost efficiency boxes, from just £16,340 on the road," Vauxhall states. -

Diesel cars are slightly more popular than petrol models, accounting for 51.2% of new registrations versus 47.4% of petrols, with the remainder made up of alternative fuel vehicles, such as hybrids. -
New car registrations in line with forecasts 6 Jun 2011 (News)
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has released new car registration figures, showing that, while down 1.7% on May 2010, sales figures are in line with forecasts for the year. 150,431 new registrations were made in May 2011, down 2,664 on the same month last year. Diesel cars continue to sell well, with a 52.9% share of the market. 1.1% of vehicles registered were powered by alternative fuels, such as electricity. More than half of new registrations were for fleet cars, while 47% were private buyers. -
Seat launches eco-friendly car 27 Dec 2007 (News)
Carmaker Seat has launched a new eco-friendly vehicle which claims to have the lowest CO2 emissions of all Seat models. The new Ibiza Ecomotive has a three-cylinder turbo-diesel engine and boasts combined fuel economy of more than 74 mpg and carbon emissions of just 99 g/km. Prices for the new car start at just £10,995, making it one of the least expensive low emission models on the market, Seat points out. -
