    .  Although public charging stations are currently managing demand, more EVs (especially those with larger batteries) are likely to put pressure on local electricity networks. The Electric Nation project hopes to prove that home charging stations are a cost effective alternative.     The Zoe in Dynamique Nav trim is also available on a two-year Selections PCP package, costing just £189 per month, including battery lease after a customer deposit of £1499. A wall-box home charger is included in the offer, along with deposit contribution of £1500 when financed via four-year hire purchase deals. There are also £500 discounts and deposit contributions of up to £2250 on Kadjar and Megane models too, when funded via PCP.  As always, these deals are dependent on Renault's terms and conditions, so check with your local dealer and read the small print before committing to any form of purchase.

Estimate: £12,000-£15,000. Other notable lots include a 1965 Jaguar E-Type S1 4.2 roadster with original factory hardtop (estimate £30,000-£40,000), a very striking 1959 Ford Skyliner Retractable (£15,000-£17,000), and a magnificent 1997 Bentley Turbo RL (estimate £14,500-£16,000).

    .  “The decision to slash the Plug-in Car Grant and Van & Truck Grant is the wrong move at the wrong time. New battery electric technology is more expensive than conventional engines and incentives are essential in making these vehicles affordable to the customer,” said Hawes. "This sends the wrong message to the consumer, especially private customers, and to an industry challenged to meet the Government’s ambition to be a world leader in the transition to zero emission mobility."    The new price cap, lowered from £50,000 to £35,000, will affect a large number of electric models.
  • Wireless electric car charging closer to reality after Government funding boost 9 Jul 2019 (News)
     The tech works by fitting charging pads to the underside of the car and the road, which replenish the battery by using induction charging that uses an electromagnetic field to transfer energy between two.  The wireless charging system will be tested on streets in Milton Keynes, the London Borough of Redbridge and parts of Buckinghamshire, with some residents getting the induction charge pads for free.  Over £3 million has been given to Urban Electric to develop ‘pop-up’ changing stations that are built into the pavement.

    The vehicle weighs 800kg – increasing if its petrol engine were combined with an electric motor to become a hybrid, or if converted into a battery-powered car. An electric-only system would cost double that of the standard petrol unit, the Aachen team said. CO2 emissions would vary between 54 and 100g/km depending on the chosen propulsion system.
