Peugeot 307 2.0 Diesel hdi - Electrical fault - help & advice please!!! 26 May 2011 (Forum)
The indicators make the clicking noise but the light on the dash isn't on. Is this a case of a fuse gone or something much more serious? someone mentioned a faulty ecu which sounds scarily expensive :/ any advice or tips would be much appreciated! Thanx in advance for any help -
Citroen C3 - Citroen c3 starting problem. 2002 model (S regis.) 2 Apr 2011 (Forum)
Used extra key to test, the car still refused to fire. Now I guess it is worst bcos it is showing ECU on the dashboard. I am thinking of breaking the damn thing into piece. Confused right now. Car just did 95k miles. Never has such problem before with any car. Garage pushed the car to Citroen dealer. -
peugeot 306 meridian 1.4 petrol - peugeot 306 problem 21 Mar 2011 (Forum)
I had a friend take a look and says the starter is ok but is unsure exactly what is causing it. he said it maybe the brown 15 pin connector bolted to the back of the ecu case but wasnt sure as to what it is for. As he was taking a look he noticed a wire running fom one of the fuses in the fuse box next to the battery to a square black connector at the top of the fuse box and said that shouldnt be there like its bypassing something. -
kia sedona - No pulse on injectors with 2.9 CRDi sedona 2004 9 Mar 2011 (Forum)
My autodata doesnt have a wiring diagram for this vehicle so I am struggling with basic checks. The cam sensor has a 3 pin plug on the ecu side unplugged with 5 volts at 2 of the terminals and one to earth which seems odd. The crankshaft sensor has a 3 pin plug with pin 2 going to earth and nothing on the other 2. Reading around the internet there is some confusion if there should be 5 volts at this sensor? -
Fiat Punto Mia - Power Steering Failure 10 Oct 2010 (Forum)
My power steering recently failed right on top of the mot. The garage informed me that the steering column might need replacement, or the electric motor and ECU. That cost would be at least £250 for a refurbished electric motor. The reality is that the steering motor has two relays that frequently fail. -
FIAT Ulysse JTD - HELP please, Fiat JTD (HDI) non starting 9 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Hi Can anyone try and give me a few fresh ideas of why my fiat ulysse will not start, its a 2000 X JTD 8 Valve and the engine code is RHZ with a bosch ECU. I have done the usual stuff with these modern cars - i had a mobile guy come out and scan the car for codes. here is the rather long list he got: P0201 P0202 P0203 P0204 P0121 P0221 P1138 P1108 He said that the top 4 refer to injector codes and said its looking like a fuel pressure problem (i could guess that since its not starting) i am looking at getting the HP pump changed and injectors as the LP pump does deliver diesel through to the filter - checked by the guy and you can hear it buzz under the car. -
Ford Focus 1999 1.6 Ghia - Firing on 3 cylinders (I think!!) 26 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Apart from the diagnostics is there any other tests I can do / try to try and narrow this down. Does the focus have a blinking ecu light thingy that my astra does when I press accelerator + break and count the flashes? Any advice greatly appreciated he's already spent a fortune getting through the last MOT! -

SAAB 9-5 (1997 - 2009) - 05 2.2 Xenon headlights 18 Dec 2009 (Forum)
I understand this is acheivable, but someone I contacted said they would not do it as it was 8 Hours labour and a right fiddle....you need to change the headlight ecu, and there are lots of wires. Does anyone know anyone who has done this before, and would be prepared to do it again. Does anyone know what exactly you have to do, as my mechanic is very good, and may be able to do it, with guidance. -
Vauxhall Corsa B (1993 - 2000) - 97 1.2 dash rattle 26 Jul 2009 (Forum)
To date ive removed and checked behind instruments os dash vent ,scuttle trim, under wiper linkage, removed ecu looked inside A pillar. even taped up demister vent but the sound is the same. I also removed osf wheel arch liner and checked security of charcoal cannister but all seems normal. when you hear the rattle it seems so obvious where its coming from, but for me its a mystery. -
Citroen Despatch (2007 - ) - 05 1.9d Intermittant engine surging woes. 2 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Evening all,my citroen despatch van has developed an engine surging problem.Whilst driving in the mid speed range & accelerating the van seems to hold back as if its hunting for fuel & you can hear a loud crack from the engine as if the fuel timing is to far advanced followed by a brief cloud of smoke,it then clears itself & the van runs perfectly at higher speeds.Im led to believe the ecu & other various sensors controls the advance/retard fuel timing on the injection pump regarding this engine.Could it be a dodgy multiplug connection somewhere or has the pump solenoid shot its bolt?. -

Can be better after a cool down and it is always OK next day at the garage - has been back each time but not fixed. Have had new ecu (originally no fault codes) and a coil (based on fault codes). It worked for 2x130 mile journeys after coil but died today after 40 miles (warm day tho) Any ideas - am at wits end, might have to sell but don't want to! -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1998 1.4 Petrol - Missfire 23 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I'm at the point where i want rid of the car but i can't sell it like this! I have read a few things online where its been suggested it could be the ECU, also could be a MAP sensor?? Any help is greatly appreciated! -
Volkswagen Beetle (1998 - ) - do I need to disconnect battery whilst charging ? 30 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Can't say I've ever disconnected the battery from the car before? Presumably this would result in the ECU resetting itself, needing to dig out the code for the radio etc. Is it really necessary to disconnect the battery from the car, or is this just the manufacturer trying to cover their backs? It's only a 4 amp charger and would be left on overnight. -
Volkswagen Lupo (1999 - 2004) - 03 1.4 Misfiring when cold 4 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I have seen some info on the web indicating that this fault can be caused by failure of the heater element in the lamda sensor, causing the ECU to think the engine is running too rich when it is cold, so it makes the mixture leaner until the mixture till the engine misfires. Once the exhaust gas has heated up the lambda sensor, the problem goes away. -
Vauxhall Astra G Diesel (1998 - 2004) - 03 2.0 Power loss/revs increase after long idle 21 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Also when in heavy traffic and the vehicle is at idle for a prolonged period of time the revs will icrease to approx 1300 RPM and the ECU light will come on. During this time the vehicle speed is limited as I cannot increase the revs. This same fault sometimes occurs on initial start up. If the engine is turned off and then re started the fault disapears until the next time it is in a prolonged Idle. -
Mazda 323 (1998 - 2003) - 2002 2.0 Correct way to use jump start leads? 16 Sep 2008 (Forum)
As soon as he put the lead on the engine hanger of the Corsa it sparked. The car then started okay with the jump but it later transpired that the ECU was fried! It's possible that on trying to use a battery charger before jump starting he connected the charger to the wrong terminals (he remembered there was no voltage reading from the charger's meter). -
Renault Laguna (1994 - 2001) - 00 1.8,16v engine misfire 31 May 2008 (Forum)
Renault Laguna 1.8,16v,bought the car knowing the clutch was slightly slipping and engine idle slightly low, since put a new clutch in the engine has been plagued by a misfire that would put any sa80 to shame, changed the lambda sensor(bosch),4 individual pencil packs(the german ones),new battery, oil and filters, compression test (all ok)had a diagnosis test and came back ok,its had timing belt and pulleys too but still the misfire continues to kangaroo hop down the road when under load between 1000/2000 and when throttling on when i a high gear a poping in the engine can be heard, been told it could be the throttle position switch or the ECU thats causing the problem, need to know as this car costing me a fortune and buggin me that i can't get to the bottom of it,any one with the similar problems that may be able to advise, much obliged. -
Reliable diesels - is there such a thing? 16 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I've a (very) unreliable Ford Focus estate which, over the past 6 months has cost me more than £1,000 to keep on the road and has been off-road at the garage for more than 5 weeks - it's had ECU and fuel injection problems, clogged valves...you name it.... From reading this forum, the 130bhp Mondeo seems dogged with similar problems, ditto the Mazda 6. I'm after a diesel. It needs to have a big boot for the dogs.
