  • Focus spring broken 5 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Today my wife told me her car was making a noise as if a brick had dropped on the bonnet. On further examination I found that the offside front spring had snapped! Her car is 3.25 years old Focus TDCI with 17900 miles on the clock.
  • Mondeo Locking Problem 1 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Our '96 (pre-facelift) Mondeo has recently developed an intermittent fault, which is causing some irritation! When locking the car, the central locking motors can be heard whirring (but for a greater length of time than usual), however the car refuses to lock. This problem can be remedied by sitting in the front passenger seat and holding the passenger door locked from the inside - hey presto the car is locked, albeit with someone locked inside!
  • In-car DVD/Videos - anyone tried them? 2 Jan 2004 (Forum)
DVD (although I have none), VHS (I have loads). Also from a previous thread about children in the front of a car, what is the minimum legal age for them to sit in the front? Re new child safety legislation - what are child seat belts how do they differ from standard belts? Regards
  • Which cars have the worst mud traps? 7 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Now that we are at the end of the Winter, it's a good time to remove trapped mud. Some cars have the most appalling mud traps to their long term detriment. My suggestion: Peugeot 106 (Mk 2). At the bottom rear of the front wings, mud gathers behind the plastic wheel arch liner and sits in a nice soggy wedge between the inside of the wing and the front of the sill.

  • BMW 7-Series E38 (1994 - 2001) - 00 2.8 What would cause a car to lean to one side 25 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Then i thought worn out shock absorbers, rear 2 are new, front 2 are old. The front offside could be sagging down i guess, but i'd expect the car to list down on that corner rather than the whole side, esp given rear shock is new. Other points maybe worth noting: had the car 3d laser aligned but the dealer couldn't get the camber in spec, as a result the car pulls to the left.
  • Citroen C1 2016 - Rattle in dashboard / bulkhead C1 new model 3 Feb 2020 (Forum)
There's a bad rattle in the dash, about behind the radio/wheel just below the windscreen.  As if there's a loom or fitting come loose.  It's got to the can't-stand-this-any-longer stage, even the Mrs is finding it annoying. I've been upside-down in both footwells and can't see or feel anything.
  • APCOA - Parking Charge Notice 17 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Returned from shopping today to find the above stuck to my windscreen. There were no free parking spaces so, like others i the same position we parked partly pavement/partly road , no yellow lines at all. *Not a designated parking area* is what it says on the invoice for £60 My friend has told us 'just ignore it' (the invoice) what would you advise ?
  • Rover 75 1,8 petrol - Flat battery 30 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Hi, A month ago I bought a 2000 Rover 75 in very good condition. Until last week I did not experience any problem. But after filling up the windscreen wiping fluid the battery is draining. When loaded in rest position it is onlaoding with more than 4 Amps. By excluding checking I found out that it stops unloading when I remove the BCU fuse. Is it possible that it is caused by spilling wiping fluid on some cables or connectors?

  • Ford - How do you stick up a rear view mirror? 25 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Hi all, im having problems my interior rear view mirror in my Ford Ka. One day it fell off from the top of the windscreen possibly due to the sticky stuff wearing out or something.. anyway i tried using different superglues, both don't work after repeated applications, the last time it stuck well but as soon as i adjusted the mirror it fell off again!!!
  • Displaying a tax disc 8 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Since the new disc has to be obtained in advance there's scope for it getting mislaid unless it's attached to the windscreen immediately upon receipt. What do you do? -- L\'escargot.
  • Citroen Saxo Electrical Problem 11 May 2007 (Forum)
I have a V reg, 1.1 saxo and have a problem with the electrics, the heater circulation fans are working only intermittently and it seems that the rear windscreen de-mister is now doing the same. The de-mister button is only partially illuminated. I am not sure of what the problem could be, two possible ideas have been a, Ignition switch, if this is the case allegedly it would need to either be relayed or replaced and then re-programmed.
  • I'm SO mad 3 Jul 2005 (Forum)
Despite the presence of 20 mph limit signs and and 'no overtaking' signs, you decided to go for it, and thanks to you I now have a bonnet thats covered in a million little stonechips and a windscreen with a crack running the length of it that will no doubt cos me hundreds to put right. You'd better hope that I never see you driving about again. There is no real point to this post, I just needed a place to have a rant.
  • Useful easy tips 12 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Recently the rear windscreen wiper stopped working on my Fiat Marea Weekend. Once I had removed the motor it became apparent that the spindle was getting rusted up and causing friction that was too great for the motor to overcome.

  • Where to buy a glass polishing kit. 12 Jan 2004 (Forum)
, 2 lint free bobbins & taper/arbor for your electric drill and some lint free finishing cloths. I've used the polish on my windscreen and kitchen windows applied by hand and the results are great. I've finally managed to get rid of the dreaded Rain X. Best of all it took less effort to get rid of it than it took to apply it! Happy New Year!
