Volvo 740 brakes 21 Jul 2003 (Forum)
The time is rapidly approaching when I will have to change the front disks. The car is a saloon, 1997cc "F" reg but an '89 model. In theory, the disks should just slide over the hubs but I've been told by a supplier that the car might have disks combined with the hub. -
406 discs 1 Apr 2003 (Forum)
My friend owns a pug 406glx 2.0 auto and is getting through a set of front discs every 10,000mls. His wife uses the car most and does short journeys but she is a typical woman driver and never brakes hard ( unless in an emergency ). He is getting a little fed up with having to have the front discs changed so often and would like to know if this is a common problem or has he just got a dodgy car. -
BMW X5 (2016) - Mileage indicator for brake pads (front) replaceme 15 Feb 2023 (Forum)
Hello, just wondering if you can clarify on the following. My X5 (2016) had had 3100 miles until front brake pads replacement indicated on the dashboard for quite some time. Brought it for a regular servicing at BMW where front brake pads were confirmed to be at 7 mm. Immediately after I collected my car the same day, the reading changed to 1200 miles till replacement (ie minus almost 2K). -
Honda Accord - knocking noise 23 May 2014 (Forum)
I was hoping for some advice. Took my Honda to a garage and told them that I could hear a knocking noise from the front of the car. They put it on the ramp and told me it’s not from the front but the back and it’s the anti-roll bars and bushes need replacing. I was adamant that the noise was from the front, but they said verbally I can guarantee it that it’s the drop-links from the back. -

My 2002 Vauxhall Vectra is making a scraping noise, which seems to be coming from the front wheels. There's no vibrations, or any performance issues, but... -
PEUGEOT 206 HDi - YEAR 2000 - FRONT END KNOCKING 13 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Hi! I would appreciate some assistance regarding a fairly harsh "knocking" coming from the front of my 206. I recently fitted new shockers to both driver & passenger side front as I had suspected this was the cause of the previous knocking particularly on one side of the car. The noise is more pronounced now. -
Honda Civic - Garage fitted V rated tyres to front instead of H 29 May 2012 (Forum)
A fast fit place fitted V rated tyres to the front of the car when I specifically asked for H rated tryes. Does this matter? The tyres were fitted on 27 Apr '12. I dont want to make an issue of this if I can help it. Could it affect the handling? I should have had the tracking done at the same time, as the vehicle doesn't feel so surefooted on the roads over 30mph approx. -
Citroen Berlingo Multispace - Citroen refunding cost for new springs? 19 May 2011 (Forum)
What are my chances? I have looked through this web site and know that there is a general problem with front suspension springs in European cars. -
Replacing tyres on a Mercedes A class. 16 Jul 2002 (Forum)
In addition Mercedes do not recommend rotation of tyres on the A class range. There does not appear to be a "cut and dried" reason for fitting to front or rear? From what I understand the "fit to rear" is to reduce the posibility of a rear breakout. With more modern cars with ESP - possibility and loss of control of a rear breakout is already reduced, and hence the recommendation by Mercedes. -

Guard your keys! A reminder. 18 Mar 2008 (Forum)
A week or so ago a 6 year old ordinary Honda Civic was stolen fom a front drive in my street. The elderly couple were in bed when the car went at 1:30 in the morning as logged on CCTV. It is believed that the front door was opened via the letterbox (there was no bolt on the bottom of the door or a door chain) The car keys were in the hall. -
[C]5 go on a trip........ 21 Mar 2002 (Forum)
The computer is not intuitive. It is a long way in front and it is virtually impossible to press the buttons on and drive along. The other controls are on the end of the windscreen wiper switch arm. Not that it actually tells you, you just find out when trying to wash the windscreen and see the display change. -

Car recovery trailer 3 Oct 2004 (Forum)
My son has had an accident tonight, whilst on a roundabout. Luckily he and the other party were not hurt at all. Unfortunately, it has damaged the front suspension, and the car will not drive. I intend to recover it to my house tomorrow to inspect the damage. (It is in a car park tonight, so reasonably safe). The obvious choice is a recovery firm with a low loader, or front suspension lift, but I was just wondering if anybody knows if it is easy to find and hire an ? -
