  There should still be plenty of cars within £200 of the prices above. More auction news: there will be a special ‘Top Fleet; sale of 72 BMWs at Blackbushe on Wednesday 12th November, including desirable 320ds, 330ds, 530ds, M3s and a rare 98S Alpina B3. Peugeot has a special sale on Friday 14th November with 406s as far as the eye can see.

  Buyers Still Stumping Up For Status 1 Jun 2001 (News)
  Yet, strangely, a much better 62,000 mile 97P GTI 16v 5-door in factory black and with aircon only bid to £5,900, well shy of reserve. BMWs were solid, too. A 19,000 mile 99T E46 318iSE in desirable silver but needing a door repainted sold for £14,300; an 11,000 mile 98S E40 323i coupe made an excellent £13,700; and even 5-Series were strong with £14,250 paid for a 57,000 mile 98S 528iSE auto.

  Micra Makes Unscheduled Auction Debut 28 May 2003 (News)
  But bargain car had to be an 02 reg 3k mile 2.5 six-speed auto with the new electronic parking brake. Top bid for that car was £18,800. Oddballs of the day included an 86D 95k mile BMW 635 CSIA with a hunky set of alloys and very little fraying round the edges. That sold for £2,350. Seriously odd was a bright yellow 53,000 mile Hyundai Accent 1.5MVI 3-door, aptly registered ‘R222 HEL’, which sold to a man with thick spectacles for £1,750.

  Petrolheads flock to NEC classic show 12 Nov 2019 (News)
  Voted for by the visitors, second place went to Ian Cummins’ 1991 Mazda MX-5 while Tahmid Haque’s 1988 BMW E30 325i Sport came third. The Sporting Bears gave around 750 ‘Dream Rides’, a ten-mile passenger ride in one of over 80 cars available over the weekend. They raised just under £30,000 for various UK children’s charities.

  Indeed, torque steer, understeer and a slightly bouncy ride were all characteristics, but despite that it was actually quite good fun, not least because it would show a clean pair of heels to a BMW 3-Series or Mercedes 190E with a bigger engine under the bonnet. In the company car park, these things mattered.  Today, though, the 440 Turbo is largely forgotten, as indeed is the rest of Volvo’s mid-size model range.

  Mirroring the history of the automobile itself, these pint-size replicas span virtually every decade of the past 130 years and range from highly detailed miniature vintage Bentleys and pre-war racing cars made from metal, to a modern BMW Z4 made from plastic. Canny toy makers have been turning out child-size replicas ever since Karl Benz sprang his three-wheel Patent Motorwagen on a bemused public in 1886, the world’s first motorised vehicle.
