• Various - Which VW/Audi TSI petrol lump is best, 1.2 or 1.4? 13 Jan 2017 (Forum)
  I'm looking to buy a car with the VW/Audi 1.2 or 1.4 petrol engine. Something from 2012 onwards, manual gearbox because heard many bad things about the DSG gearboxes. So there's all these: 1.2 84 bhp 1.2 105 bhp 1.4 122 bhp 1.4 140 bhp 1.4 150 bhp I know they used to make an engine with both turbo AND supercharger, but I'm not going for one of those.

  Audi A3 8PA 1.9tdi BKC 2005my mileage 88K Me again, seem to be having one problem after another.  Just went for a short run to warm car up from cold for its MOT.  During this run noticed black smoke in rear view mirror when accelerating hard after car was at operating temperature.

  Hi All, Got an Audi A4 2.0 TDi 2005 @105000 miles. Little confused should i sell this car or keep it. Brought this car a year back @84000 miles and used it all motorways, but now moved home closer to my work and dont really do that much drive on this beautiful diesel car and this car hasnt been dearer to my pockets too.

    So back to the drawing board - I have a budget £3-£5k and was considering a BMW 520d-530d auto obvouusly considering the fact with this budget they will be high mileage BMW's.   Any advice or should I look for something else? Audi A6 2.7 TDI perhaps?    Main factors are: has to be family car, auto, decent mpg, preferably diesel (approx 10k miles per year), readily available parts, and a pleasure to drive.

  Hi I have inherited an Audi a4 avant through work. It's a great car - of that there's no doubt. However, the 'cream' interior is a little 'yellow' for me and drives me nuts. The seats are okay and cope able with but the rest of the trim (a-pillars, b-pillars, door inserts and the area around the rear view mirror ) I can't cope with.

  Night and day difference. I own an Audi A4 2.0 TDI 2012 and do alot of motorway driving 30-40k miles per year. Now i had the re-tune done on the 11 aug 2014 and WOW that's all i can say my mpg has gone up as promised currently getting 5-8mpg MORE!!!!

  I drive a Audi A41.9 TDI, 55plate, Automatic, from new running at 187K, with 90% motorway mileage in past 4 years (did 100K in 4 years). Runs well but has been bit expensive with 1K repair each year at least and change of tyres Mileage is only 36/gallon, I dont necessarily stay at 70-75, if I did it would be 42-46 Would it really save me good deal if I buy anothet 1.8-2 litrecar petrol or diesel?

I’d like to stay with Audi VW cars. I have driven a ’54 VW Passat Estate 1.9TDI from new. It has 120k miles on the clock, no DPF and runs well.

  I have heard from others that this is required. As a first time user of Turbo Diesel Engine cars I seek advice. I have recently bought an Audi A6 TDI  Quattro & Mini R60 Turbo Diesel Countryman and would like to know the correct procedure so that I don't mess up the cars.

  Started the car up, engaged Drive and the gearbox went into back up mode ( only drivable in 3rd gear), As the drive home was 20 miles I called the AA who diagnosed the problem from the cars own system as a Pressure Solinoid Switch which is stuck in the Off position. There was nothing he could do roadsside so it was relayed to my Local Audi dealer. They have come back to me and said that the gearbox will not " talk " to them and because of this they are suggesting replacing the gearbox, this sounds expensive. Does anyone have any experience/advise on this   Thanks   Dave Buxton

  I have just recently bought an audi a4 2003. The car drives really well but on motorways it does tend to wonder a bit (not necessary due to the camber of the road). I cannot afford any expensive repair bills but think this could be due to a worn control arm / tie rod end.

  The auto box on my 1997 Audi S8 was repaired a year last Feb and after 25,000 miles went again. It was out of warranty but they said it should not have happpend so charged about a 1/3rd of the full cost to sort it out again.

  Hi please can anyone advise me what would be the best estate to buy my budget will be 5 Grand i have been looking at  Audi A4 tdi or Petrol version and BMW 320 diesel sport and 5 series diesel and petrol  version bearing in mind we dont use the car everyday and only do about 4/5K milege a year we have 2  small dogs and child.

  Is this just normal wear and tear to be expected or does anyone know if this is a problem common to audis? when the car was bought new i declined the "autoglym "? paint protection. Perhaps this was a mistake?

  I have a 2010 Audi A4 2.0Tdi. It will display average mpg for the current journey and for the car's lifetime (till reset). It is irritating that these readings only land on certain values. For example the jorney average will jump from 33.4 to 33.7 to 34.1 to 34.8 etc. as I go along, always landing on the same set of values.

  the front passenger side of my audi allroad 2.7t keeps dropping to zero overnight so i took it for a service and apparently there is a hole in the suspension airbag. i have been quoted £500 for a new airbag (as well as some dampers?)

  A neighbour told her the car seemed to be open. One of the doors was on the latch, and they are all unlocked. It's an Audi A3 diesel, five years old or so. I don't know the car myself. How does she lock the car without the keys or fob? Can one operate the central locking from inside and then shut the door? The car is in a side street in Holloway, not the sort of place you want to leave your car unlocked.

  Hi, I've got a problem with my Audi A3 1.8T - the battery has gone flat and I've traced it down to fuse 37 which is listed as 'engine timing'. Sure enough, remove this fuse and the drain stops but the engine wont start. Any ideas what on earth could cause this?

  The dipstick is jammed on my 2.0lt 20v Audi A4. Last Wednesday my car was in for a new thermostat, they did the job buy removing the alternator rather than the inlet manifold, no problem with that as that is the way most people do it. I went to check to oil on Saturday and the plastic orange guide tube came out with the dipstick, I refitted the tube (bit of a fiddle) but now the dipstick is stuck fast, it lifts about 1/2 inch and that's it, help!

  I would be grateful if I could pick some collective brains. Thinking about buying a secondhand audi tt ( new shape 2.0fsi). When is the best time and place to buy the tt ? november,december or start of the new year. Been thinking about it for the last 2 years, so now I may be able to afford one! Is it best to go to a franchised dealer or from an auction via a broker.
