  • 1955 Dellow Mk II B in Historics 20th August Brooklands Auction 4 Aug 2016 (News)
A dream project if it comes cheap enough, this 1971 left hand drive Volkswagen Karmann Ghia convertible was imported from the USA in 2014, but has since remained unrestored. The canvas top seems to be fairly new and though a lot of tidying is required it is reported to be relatively rust free and the engine runs well.
  • Coys to hold two classic car auctions on the same day 13 Jan 2016 (News)
Henry Taylor then went on to win the British Empire Trophy in October driving this car. Other important lots include a 1985 MG Metro 6R4, the original Rothmans team car (£85,000 to £95,000), a 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GT (£230,000 to £265,000) and a 1958 Aston DB2/4 Mark III, with only two owners in 29 years (£100,000 to £115,000).
  • Jaguar XK120 restoration project to go under the hammer 4 Jun 2015 (News)
Facel Vega HK500 - estimate £58,000-£64,000 This one was imported into the UK in 1990 by the vendor, and has been dry stored ever since. The car starts, runs, and drives but doesn’t have an MoT. It carries an estimate of £58,000-£64,000. But this is a Jaguar sale, after all, so you’d expect to see a Mk2.
  • Goodbye to the tax disc 1 Oct 2014 (News)
Unless you’ve managed to avoid all the recent news stories relating to the demise of the tax disc, you’ll already know that Wednesday, 1 October, is the day when Britain’s motorists finally bid farewell to this all-important circular piece of paper. It doesn’t mean the end of Vehicle Excise Duty, though – and it seems there’s still some confusion over the future of VED and how it’s now implemented.    The death of the tax disc was announced as part of Chancellor George Osborne’s 2013 Autumn Statement, with the system moving to a fully digital service.
  • Report: Barons 17th December 2013 23 Dec 2013 (News)
A first generation pre-Airflow 1964 Lotus Cortina proved to be the star of the day at Barons 17th December auction at Sandown Park, Esher, eventually selling to a New Zealand telephone bidder for £48,172, inclusive.   Important post-sale deals included £36,000 inclusive for the 1965 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 roadster restoration project, proving that the early pre-sale estimate had been wildly optimistic. (This had later been brought down to a more sensible level.)
  • CarFest North Moves to Oulton Park 22 Jul 2013 (News)
Other notable highlights are dazzling parades of both Aston Martins and Lamborghinis to mark important milestones in their respective automotive histories plus, for the first time at a CarFest, the addition of some very special motorcycles. As if the magical sights and sounds of so much show-stopping machinery aren’t enough, the festival atmosphere will continue after the dust settles on the Sprint.
  • 1957 Ford Zephyr Convertible Makes £22,412 at Barons 1 Nov 2012 (News)
The 1965 Fiat 500D with just 35,600 miles on the clock would probably have made more than its £8,100 if it had come with more paperwork - demonstrating that it's important for owners to try to hang on to all the administrative bits and pieces that a car accumulates over the years.  Entries for Barons' Yuletide Classic on December 18th are already rolling in, with a rare 1966 428 Thunderbird Convertible and an even rarer 1965 Margrave Wood and Picket Mini Cooper S topping the list at the moment.
  • Sir Winston Churchill's Series 1 Land Rover 'UKE 80' Under The Hammer This Weekend 18 Oct 2012 (News)
Frank and the Land Rover were soon put to work towing his daughters horse box to various events for the next four years, at this time Frank started to form an opinion as to the uniqueness of his vehicle and, in 1977, decided it was too important an asset to keep driving and UKE80 went into the shed. Occasional outings to local events and charity fund raising were all that disturbed the Land Rover for some twenty plus years. UKE 80 was put up for auction around 1999 but the early days of on-line auctions proved fraught with difficulties and Frank decided discretion was the better approach and the shed beckoned for the next decade.
  • New RenaultSport Clio to go Racing 16 Oct 2012 (News)
.  “We will continue to run the existing car in the British championship through 2013, with the intention to then introduce the new turbo-charged Clio Cup car the following season. Getting the timing right is very important, the car will race in the Clio Eurocup next year so our teams in the UK will have ample opportunity to see it in action ahead of its planned 2014 UK debut.”  Since first bursting onto the national motorsport scene in 1991, as a replacement for the Renault 5 series, the Renault UK Clio Cup has been a cornerstone of British circuit racing and has played a key role in the careers of some of the sport’s most successful touring car and sportscar drivers.  The previous generation Clio Cup was introduced in 2006 and has been highly successful with over 700 race cars sold.  Several graduates from Clio Cup currently form part of the current British Touring Car Championship grid, including 2006 champion Tom Onslow-Cole and 2010 title winner Dave Newsham.
  • Mazda Supports Red Cross Tsunami Appeal 5 Apr 2011 (News)
“Some employees kept it simple by wearing a red t-shirt, red braces or a pair of red socks, some went completely overboard and kept it red from head to toe in true Mazda Zoom-Zoom style. What is important is they have helped the Red Cross provide essential services for people in Japan at this difficult time.” “While Mazda Corporation employees in Japan were fortunate enough to have been unaffected by the tragic events due to the location of the Mazda offices in Hiroshima, many of the employees will undoubtedly have friends and family in the affected regions and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”
  • Raving Automobilia Auction to fund UK Paralympians 11 Aug 2010 (News)
” Martin McElhatton, Chief Executive of WheelPower, the national charity for disability sport, said: “We are delighted that we have been chosen as the beneficiaries from this auction. • Even Hotter 265PS SEAT Leon Cupra R 19 Aug 2009 (News)
Inside and out, the exclusive nature of the Spanish maker’s new model is obvious to the enthusiast thanks to the distinctive letter ‘R’ on the central grille and at the lower right of the hatch.  The all-important initial also appears inside, on the right instrument dial and the remote control key. Meanwhile, the exclusive Cupra logo graces the front bumper, the centre of the hatch and, inside, the steering wheel and seat backrests.
  • Bird Lime Eats Car 17 Jul 2009 (News)
When the inevitable does happen, the best way to remove it is by hosing down with a water jet which will soften the deposit, neutralise the acid and eventually wash it away. The other important thing to remember is to remove droppings as soon as possible after they have been detected. Leaving them on the vehicle body until wash-day is not a smart move." In conclusion, our feathered friends aren't going to be beaten on this one, they're only doing what comes natural and have developed their way of doing things for millennia.

  • Land Rover Gets Grant For All New Car 11 Mar 2009 (News)
The grant offer will be made available under the Government's Grant for Business Investment scheme and is an important contribution towards the overall £400 million cost of the project. This is separate from the broader automotive support package currently being unveiled by the Government. Although it still has to go through a number of approval gateways in the product development process before getting the final go-ahead, Land Rover has also confirmed that the new car would be a key addition to the Range Rover family of luxury vehicles.
  • Frederic Bennett Nash in Barons Classic Auction 27 Feb 2009 (News)
Frederic S Bennett and the Dewar Trophy In 1907 Cadillac sales worldwide were falling dramatically. Frederic S Bennett, who had imported the first Cadillac into the UK, and gained early fame when he drove that 1903 car in an eight-day, 1,000 mile reliability trial, decided to demonstrate the marque’s potential by entering Cadillac for the Dewar Trophy, the prestigious award for innovation in motor car manufacture which has been awarded just 38 times in 102 years.
