  A 41k Y reg BMW 320i 2.2SE sold for £10,750, a 34k mile 2001/51 318iSE Touring sold for £11,500, and a damage repaired 16k mile 04 reg Audi A3 TDI 140 DSG for a whopping £17,700. There will be another big sale on Friday. But the event of the week is tomorrow’s big Ford ex-rental sale where you can expect 53 reg Focuses from £6,500 to £7,500 and 53 reg Mondeos from £7,500 to £8,500.

  Few Cheap Cars at Auction Today 8 Sep 2004 (News)
  But perhaps he just didn’t like yellow. A 36k mile Y reg Honda S2000 roadster sold for £16,100. An 82k mile Y reg Audi A4 B6 TDI 130SE sold for £8,500, £250 more than an identical 88k miler on Monday. A 63k mile 03 reg Vectra 2.0DTI Elegance sold for £6,800. A 121k mile 2001/51 Passat 2.0S (not even a diesel) sold for £4,150.

  C-Max 1.6 TDCI CVT at Auction Today 27 Aug 2004 (News)
  At the other end of the scale, a 36k mile 02 reg SLK 320 auto sold for £19,450. Bids for the more interesting stuff generally took them out of reach. A 2001X Audi TT 225 which had been treated to just two services in its 65k miles sold for a hefty £13,800. A 59k mile 2000W 530dSE auto sold for £11,850. A 47k mile 96N Mercedes E200 Elegance auto estate with 7 seats and eight service stamps made a massive £6,600.

  Golden Oldies at Auction Today 28 Apr 2004 (News)
  £675 wasn’t much to enjoy the sun (when it comes back) in an 86k mile 93L Rover 214 cabriolet. There has been a bit of a discussion in The Backroom about Audi Allroads, so to add to it a black 104k mile 2001X Allroad 2.5TDI bid to £13,000. But we got involved in the bidding for a real oddball. The lady wanted a diesel saloon. This was a rare Rover 420D Executive, with leather, aircon, alloys, CD autochanger and 58k miles, but on a 2000V plate dating from 3 months after the last 400 Series were built, so it didn’t book.

  Year Old Yaris Just £4,450 at Auction 14 Apr 2004 (News)
  A surprise appearance was put in by an 02 reg SMART Passion convertible with a hefty 30k miles (out of warranty on age and mileage) which bid to a low £4,500 for a car that’s over £9,000 new. And Audi TTs now seem to be cooling off. A 49k mile 99T 225 coupe sold for £13,450 wile a 28k mile 2001Y 180 Quattro bid to £14,350. Cheap cheapies were a radiant red 93k mile 98R Mondeo 1.8LX, sold for £900; a 93k mile 99T Daewoo Nubira 1.6SE bid to £675; an unwarranted mile 97R FIAT Punto 75SX with no red key bid to £600; and an unwarranted mile but very clean looking 99T Suzuki Baleno 1.8GX estate bid to £1,675.

  Drama at Top Car Today 26 Jan 2004 (News)
  Not rock bottom cheap by any means, but far from silly money either. Other reasonable buys included a 56k mile 2000W Audi TT 225 coupe sold for £15,800; a 21k mile 2002/52 Mercedes W211 E220 CDI Avantgarde auto, sold for £24,500; a 52k mile 2002/02 330CI auto coupe with everything on the options list, sold for £21,000; and a classic 75k mile 97P Bentley Brooklands, sold for £27,000.

  BMW’s BMWs Dear at Auction Today 19 Jan 2004 (News)
  Cheapest E46 of the day was a 128k mile 2000W ex-Lex 3181SE at £6,550. But the bargain was a 43k mile 02 reg Audi B6 V6 TDI 155 6-speed, reserved at £12,900 and sold for £13,100. The auction scene is now hotting up as January part-exchanges and de-fleetings feed through. There’s plenty going on.

  Cheap SL55 AMG at Top Car Today 8 Dec 2003 (News)
  Then a 57k mile 2000V S320 with satnav, sold for £21,950. Other heavy metal worth reporting was a 40k mile 2001Y Audi S6, with DVD in the back seat, sold for £23,850; a Le Mans Blue 42k mile 02 reg M5, sold for £32,700 and a 17k mile 02 reg XJ8 3.2SE, sold for £21,500. The next Top Car Sale at Blackbushe is on 22nd December.

  Some surprising cars were way behind book, such as a 39k mile 2001X facelift Mercedes SLK 200K auto in silver, sold for £15,300, a 20k mile 52 reg B6 Audi A4 2.4 Avant Sport, sold for £14,700 (apparently they’re a bit juicy), and a new shape 19k mile 2001/51 Lotus Elise, gone for £14,950. Buy into the mileagy stuff and you could do even better.

  LHD German imported sportscars are suddenly looking sensible. A 47k kilometre 2001W Audi TT Roadster 180 found a buyer for a reasonable £15,000, and a 3k mile 99T Mercedes SLK 200K 5-speed manual sold for just £14,800. That's cheaper than the average prices in last week's DAZ ( www.daz24.de ) Lumpy mileage Jags were holding up, though.

  Renaults Dear at Auction Today 19 Dec 2001 (News)
  Obviously the trader whose car it was needed the money for Christmas presents. A repossessed 40,000 mile 99V Audi A8 3.7 Quattro Sport would have been a good buy if it came for the £15,900 provisional bid. Golfs also looked down a bit. £7,500 was the top bid both for a 47,000 mile 2000W 1.6SE and for a 55,000 mile 99V 2.0GTi 3-door.

  Volvo Bi-Fuels and Diesels Arrive 15 Nov 2001 (News)
  A fuel switch-over recall problem was confined to 200 S80 CNG models in Germany and none are believed to have reached the UK. Volvo's new lightweight D5 common rail diesel replaces the old Audi unit in V70s and S80s and is the first diesel engine available in the S60. This lightweight alloy block unit offers 163bhp and 251 lb ft (340Nm torque) from 1,750rpm. It is available with automatic transmission as a £1,100 option, though delivery dates are approximately 5 months.

  Cheapest convertible was a 20,000 mile 98S Astra 1.6, sold for £7,000; MGFs sold from £9,350; MGF VVCs from £10,700; BMW Z3s from £12,350; Audi Cabrios from £10,100; SAAB 900 Cabrios from £10,900; SAAB 9-3 Cabrios from £14,550. There was literally something for everyone. Cheapest BMW M3 Evo convertible was a 103,000 mile 98R with a hardtop at £16,500; most expensive was a 29,000 mile 98R at £21,600.

  A 59,000 mile 97P Mercedes E280 Elegance made £13,450; a 6,000 mile 99T E240 Elegance sold for £18,550; a 54,000 mile 98R BMW 735i E38 sold for £16,500; and a 38,000 mile 98R Audi A4 2.4SE Avant with a scratch on the side sold for £12,100. But, selling for just £16,100, a 58,000 mile 97R BMW M3 3.2 Evolution 4-door in metallic blue looked like buy of the day to me.
