  i have a 1992 5 series bmw, today i was out, went to wind up the electric windows and found they have stopped working. got home went to lock the car and found the central locking is no longer working either. i also notice the interior light no longer comes on. is this a common fault with them. i have checked all fuses etc including the ones under the back seat. all seems o.k. but cant find the fault or why it would affect all door electrics. any help would be much appreciated many thanks fred

  I have a BMW 530I Touring (2001 Y), owned from new, low mileage. In the supermarket carpark today when crossing semi-recessed drainage gullies (they were not wholly recessed and protruded about 1/2 inch over ground level), the car really shuddered, right through to the steering wheel (I was doing sub 10 miles an hour at the time).

  I am looking to buy a BMW 525TDSSE Auto, 1996, N, with SH to 130k,Mileage is 160k, for £1,800. The car has A, Leather interior and is in very good condition. I would like to hear from any owners of this particular model as to how reliable are these cars, and whether it is likely to give much problem (if so, what are the common faults) Also, will the car be likely to drink more fuel than the suggested manufacturers mpg figures with 160k miles on the clock?

  I recently aquired a 520iSE, 97, average mileage, full leather and very well looked after. BMW servive history. It looks the part with 18" M series wheels and low profiles, but it just disappoints me all the time. Rattles in the doors which i can't get to, and on a bumpy surfaces it's a complete nightmare.

  Having recently purchased a new 320d SE, (with which I am absolutely delighted) - I am somewhat confused as to oil change intervals, BMW are recommending 13k miles when Castrol SLX synthetic is used, whilst H.J. is saying oil must be changed after 6k miles. Is this still necessary with these modern lubricants, which cost in excess of £11 per litre?

  The Sigma alarm fitted on my 1991 E30 BMW is playing up! Just when I\'ve crawled into bed at about 12:00, the thing will self activate and, if left, will keep turning on and off for a while. The problem only seems to happen when the car has been left in the sun during hot days and then garaged in the evening - it seems to be caused by something cooling down.

  Is this the Nicasil liner problem and what can he do about it? The bill is scary. Does anyone know if BMW will foot the bill (or part of it)? It's a 1995 car I think.   Help! I have promised my wife a 3 series BMW for her birthday. We have narrowed it down to a 318tiSE Compact. THe final decision is new or used. It would appear that nearly new is not far off the same price as brand new. We have looked at imports but the price difference again is not massive and I am not sure I trust the specs.

  My view is that it is the central vents 'housing' rattling where it inserted into the rest of the facia. Possibly some felt tape or some such might fix it. Advice needed as to what to do. 1. Take to BMW dealer and ask them to have a look and see what they can do? 2. Take to independent BMW specialist to have look? 3. Put up with it as it not a big issue and accept it as just one of those things that will happen in a stiffly sprung 4 year old SUV?

  I don't really want to be involved but this seems like extortion and I think they've milked it but going to the BMW garage whose eyes lit up when they knew it was insurance/third party. Does anyone have any suggestions, aside getting a copy of the invoice, on how to challenge this as I feel as though my cleaner has been, well, taken to the cleaners?

  I phoned BMW customer services and they said they were not aware of any shortage. I have also tried local tyre dealers and on line only companies. What worries me is if a tyre is punctured and not drivable then how can a replacement be supplied if there is no stock available.

  hello guys i recenlty bought my first bmw 316ti se compact, 2002 model few days ago it is coverted to lpg (gas) today while driving, it gone over heat. i stopped for a bit and when it get cool down, i drove it to home. it was over heat near the red mark, i turn off the engine. i can hear a whistle noise and the noise was on for an hour.

  Am looking at buying a 2006-2008 BMW 330D Saloon. I have been unfortunate to have bought two complete lemons recently which have ended up costing me thousands of pounds in repairs (Audi A6 Allroad being my biggest mistake by far!!). As I see it, I can either; 1) Buy from a BMW approved used dealer at an inflated price but with a decent warranty 2) Buy from a random dealer which will obviously come without a decent warranty at a better price As I am really reluctant to shell out for further repairs, what is my best option??
