  hi all.I have bought a 2001 BMW 320d.i am having some performance problems.the turbo does not boost at all before 4000/rpm and when it does boost it does not boost the way it should.i have a feeling it could be the mass airflow sensor.The car also give of a lot of black smoke as i accelirate.could the turbo be faulty or the sensor?

  Hi Does anyone know if there is a UK supplier of 4x4 style rear spare wheel carriers that would be suitable to fit to my mini cooper (BMW). I've seen them on cars in the USA but not sure if they are avaialble in the UK.  I have run flats on at the moment so no spare b ut it makes financial sense to change to nroal tyres and carry a spare.

    Could it be the engine mounts or maybe a drive belt?  The car has done 90,000 miles and has a full BMW service history.

  My MOT station advised me to have the brake and fuel pipes on my 11 year old 5-series BMW cleaned of corrosion and protected.  My local garager suggests cleaning off to bare metal and applying grease, but I am concerned that the gease will wash off leaving the pipes unprotected.  Is there a product better for the job?

  A local supplier has offered me an authorised BMW set, but looks like for the old model. Current tyres: 225/60 R17 The size offered is 235/55 R17 Is this likely to be a problem?
• BMW X5 - Panoramic sunroof closing problems 13 Jul 2010 (Forum)
  The p anoramic sunroof refused to close electronically - I tried to close manually (following the instructions in hand book) but failed - the rear section twisted during the manual process. I took the car to a BMW specialist and they managed to close the roof. They advised that the solution was to replace the sunroof frame at a cost of GBP 1,750.00. Is there any other solution other than not using the sunroof?

  Just being stupid but what is the tax band for an '04 reg BMW 330Ci please? I could not find anything on the net as I do not know the emissions. I presume it must be Band L @ £405 pa. can anyone confirm this please. Thank you.

  Brand new, built to order (not a stock car), BMW OTR retail price over 35K. Dealer will accept 29K. Is this par for the course in the current climate? Or way better or worse than what a personal buyer could expect?

  Can anybody explain to me where the camshaft position sensor is located on my BMW 530d Sport touring? I need to replace it but cant find any info about its location. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  I hear all is not well with world in BMW-land. They are conducting a 'review' of dealerships early next year and apparantly dealers will have to re-apply for their franchise; around 5% are expected to be unsuccessful.. :-0 Things are not what they used to be it seems and profitability at some of glass palaces is not too good.

  BMW was awarded 3/5 in a recent survey by What car in thier annual car reliability survey. Considering the marketing hype sorrounding this brand is 3/5 not a poor showing? What do fellow back roomers think?

  I have a bmw 316I 1995. When stationary with the engine running , if you press the clutch down there is a loud wyning sound. Is this the thrust bearing. The clutch does not slip and it drives like normal. Just this loud noise, oh and you can feel a slight shudder in the clutch pedal itself.

  Hi all, I have always fancied the old bmw 6 series. Never really had the opportunity to get one but I now feel like treating myself to one. I have around £1500 to spend. Is that enough. Is this a good car to buy? How reliable are they for day to day use?

  I have a 1998 BMW750i, and have managed to break one of the Xenon headlights. I went to the main BMW dealer to ask for a repair cost, and was given an estimate of 10% of the cost of the car !!! Any suggestions on where I can get hold of one Xenon headlight, or views on replacing existing Xenon's with standard lights.

  My Bmw was registered in 1998 It has only covered 30k and has had regular oil changes every 6-9 months (as per Hj's recommendations) with Mobil 1 semi-synthetic and serviced while still having 2-3 service lights showing.The car has performed excellently with no problems.My question is would the car benifit from an additive?

  I have a problem with my 2002 BMW 316ti Compact. When the car is started from cold, it is very 'spluttery' (as if the choke hadn't been out for long enough!) and noisy. Once it has warmed up, it still seems 'flat' and as if it is in need of fuel.

  Has anyone out there changed brake pads on late shape 323 or 330 CI coupe BMW's? Just want to know if there is any particular procedures that have to be carried out apart from the usual precautions when changing pads on an ABS equipped car, ie prevent back flow into the ABS computer/brake unit?

  I have heard good reports about the 530d but also problems with the turbo. The 530i appeals to me because it is fast and BMW petrol engines are definately sound also I should be able to buy it for less than the diesel. Any comments from owners appreciated. Cheers Peter

  Are BMW shifting the new 5 series? My local dealer has just phoned out of the blue to offer a new 530d for a few days to replace my incredible 330d (204 bhp) which I am well pleased with. My daily driver is an eight year old Astra Td estate so I'm tempted to send them back in that!
