Renault Megane - Renault megane 1.4 1999 lumpy idle 14 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Since then when ever the revs get below 1000 rpm or idle it is very lumy and the engine vibrates a lot. Driving performance isnt effected and fuel consumption hasnt changed much that I have noticed. I have changed the plugs and even the coil (theres only one on the e7j engine) as I had a spare and it made no difference. The plugs I took out were a bit black but not the worst ive seen. -
Ford Mondeo Mk3 1.8 Hatch. - Servicing - Engine flush or not???? 24 Sep 2010 (Forum)
Is the engine flush worth an Extra £35? Service includes new Ford oil grade, New filter, new plugs, new fuel filter, new pollen Filter etc. Seems reasonable? Just wondered does anybody get there engine "flushed" every service? are there benefits to this? I've read a few things online saying there a waste of time etc. -
Diesel TS2 2005 - Mazda 6 -Limp Mode at idle constantly 1 Sep 2010 (Forum)
Once again after sitting at idle for a short time, the car wil snap into limp mode and won't rev up over 2000rpm. Code is P0627-Fuel pump control circuit A Malfunction. I know of common problems with pumps and SCVs and injectors. All have been replaced with no change. Even put old parts on another mazda 6 and it ran fine. Does anybody know of anything that could be causing this to happen? -
family coupe convertible 12 Aug 2010 (Forum)
Wasn't keen on the pale blue either, was more effeminate than I was expecting.... We only do about 5k miles per year so not too concerned about fuel economy. I'm guessing a T5 manual (don't like autos) is probably in order. Something like this: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201022360156834/ Though perhaps 60,000 miles is a bit on the high side - wondering about all those 'up and down's on the convertible mechanism. -
Toyota Celica (2000 - 2007) - 03 1.8 Engine management light and VVT controller 19 Jun 2010 (Forum)
I usually notice it coming on when I'm driving at a steady speed, e.g. on the motorway or a long A road. The car runs fine. The only thing that might be affected is the fuel consumption which seems lower. I'm getting about 30mpg now. I've taken the car to two Toyota dealers who both retrieved a P code from the ECU that indicate a POSSIBLE problem with the VVT controller. -
Mazda 6 - 2004 Mazda 6 injector problem 29 Apr 2010 (Forum)
My mechanic referred me to a diesel specialist who stripped out the injectors and tested them. He said the nozzles had seized because of bad fuel. I live in a border county and re-fill at the same station. He cleaned the nozzles and the car ran OK for about 6 months then started giving problems again. I took it back to the same diesel specialist who replaced the nozzles on the injectors. -
peugeot 306 hdi 2.0l diesel 1999(v) - will not start 28 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Without the relay energised, I cannot get +12v to: Terminal 1 of the ECU , Fuses 33 which controls the LP fuel pump, Fuse 35 which controls the 3rd piston deactivator, egr , and HP regulator. The above items go back to the ECU onto terminals 80,52,50 respectively. I have checked for continuity and earth / direct shorts on the cabeling from the ECU connector to each engine component and all are o.k. -
Mazda 6 estate diesel 2006 - Mazda 6 not ticking over properly. 6 Apr 2010 (Forum)
The main one being that when the engine has got up to running temperature and the car is ticking over it will 'miss a beat' and the revs will drop a fraction every 10 seconds or so, this stops when I press in the clutch. I have read on other posts that there is a common fault with the fuel pump on the Mazda, but I have eliminated this due to it stopping when I press in the clutch (I may be wrong as I am no expert!), I was wondering whether anyone else has experienced anything similar and had managed to find out what the problem is? -
Vauxhall Astra H estate - Driving technique for a small diesel? 1 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Well, I took the plunge and the Astra is now mine - or at least, it will be when the documents come back from the DVLA. I liked the idea of £90 ved and lower insurance ....... and the increased fuel economy and, frankly, we didn't need an estate quite as big as the Mondeo. After 460 mixed miles which included a 250 trip on A road/motorway, a brim/brim calculation showed it had done 53 mpg - and I was rather disappointed. -
Peugeot 307 - Antipollution fault petrol 1 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Surely if the cat converter is at fault it wouldnt make my car sluggish and loose power . the exhust would make a noise surely.. Could it be a dodgy sensor or the fuel filter be clogged !! Please help -
Ford Focus 2001 1.6 zetec - Battery Light, crazy dials, high voltage 27 Mar 2010 (Forum)
The next day whilst driving, the battery light went on and off a few times, then the speedo and rev counter shot up past the max, then the front, rear and side indicators all came on (constantly on, not flashing), meaning i couldn't signal. Then the speedo went to about 150mph and stayed there. Also the fuel/temp gauge will drop to 0, the radio will cut out, and the door open lights on beep will sound. I've removed the dash cluster unit and cleaned it, and given it a light coating of ACF-50 spray, but the problems remain. -
Ford KA, KA2, KA3 - Ford Ka really low MPG 22 Mar 2010 (Forum)
i have recently covered about 76 miles in my car and it seems to have used about 15 litres of fuel for this, which works out around 20-25 MPG. My car is a 2008 Ka 1.3 Style climate with the Duratec 69 hP engine, so it should be averaging 35-40 MPG. admittedly it was a mixture of city/a road driving, quite a bit of braking involved, but surely 20-25 is very low? -
VW Golf Vi TSi 122 DSG - First impressions 22 Mar 2010 (Forum)
Very smooth, punchy and quiet. The TSi engine definitely makes a difference. The most impressive thing about this car, is the fuel economy. i'm averaging between 35 - 38 mpg around town, which is absolutely fantastic ! :) -
New Car Advice Mondeo or Octavia 13 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Depreciation according to What car will mean the Skoda is worth £8226 and the Mondeo will be worth £7668 in three years, even though the list on the Mondeo is around £8000 more! Fuel consumption is around the same, the Skoda does a little better at 49mpg as apposed to the Mondeo's 45mpg, although the Mondeo does have more torque at 295lbs as to the Skoda's 258lbs. They both do the 0-60 in 8.4 seconds. -
Ford Galaxy (1995 - 2006) - 02 2.3 Mis Fire - At my wits end 4 Feb 2010 (Forum)
No reoccuring condition that makes it do it so i am having a nightmare trying to find the problem. Garage have run a check and no fault codes come up, have changed leads coil pack, plugs fuel filter cam sensor and crank sensor and full service, but it is still happening and if anything more often than when i bought it 3 months ago. Mechanic is scratching his head and reckons there is only so much he can do. -
Outstanding car finance, credit of sale, do i own? 28 Jan 2010 (Forum)
I made the purchase based on the knowledge that i would be receving a lump sum of money in January. Unfortunately that fell through and i am now struggling to pay and the car costs me a fortune in fuel. The arranagement in place is a credit agreement backed by a bill of sale, so is NOT a hire purchase arrangement. My understanding is that with this kind of arrangement, i actually own the car? Because i did not receive the money i was expecting, i have been left with a number of debts that i need to clear, so i thought of selling the car and paying off my debts which would make it easier for me to pay the car finance company every month, so essentially it becomes a loan rather than car finance. -
Mercedes Benz E-Class Coupe (2009 - ) - Grounds for rejecting a new Mercedes 14 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Here is my situation: 1 New E Class bought September 09 2 On delivery car had a bad rattle that required taking the centre consoles out to rectify, took weeks for them to do it. 3 Dec 09 received a phone call and the car was recalled for a software update 4 A week later a letter was received from Mercedes for another recall, this time to the fuel system (again software related) to "prevent loss of power and possible fire". 5 Two days ago, without warning, the car lost power and would only crawl along, sounds like it runs on two cylinders. It is awaiting recovery today. -
Your Thoughts Please.... 28 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Therefore I am looking at potentially:- Buying another Shogun (new shape, 2008). But can't really afford to fuel it for work purposes (32k per annum) So thinking of buying a banger, however has to be respectable (work policy is 5years, 5 seats less than 100k but am prepared to ignore these as long as it looks okay!!). -
Rooney snr car stolen - keys left in ignition 22 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Wayne Rooney's dad had his £40,000 sports car stolen... after leaving the keys in the ignition - stopped at a petrol station in Liverpool yesterday morning to fill up the black Mercedes. But as he paid for the fuel, a man got into his car and drove off. Furious Mr Rooney called the police straightaway and they are now scouring CCTV footage to try to identify the thief and track him down. A police source said: "Unsurprisingly Mr Rooney wasn't too delighted that his flash car had been taken. -
Ford Fiesta (2000 - 2002) - 01 1.25 engine flooding when attempted start, rece 3 Nov 2009 (Forum)
The cam sensor is the original one with the original cams etc due to the head change so can be ruled out. Also the fuel rail and injectors are original.
