  My road tax runs out today and I intend to renew it tomorrow. However I have been told today that if you do not renew by midnight an automatic fine is sent out. Is this correct? If so I only have myself to blame but I thought you would at least get a few days grace?!

  My 2000 v-reg focus 1.8tdi estate has suddenly developed stiff gearing the car has done 103,000 miles and has been fine up to now,the clutch is very high take off point,and the gears are stiff when not running,can anyone help or suggest anything.

  Got in today and car just doesn\'t go. When in any first three gears car revs like clutch down but once over 30 runs ok but starts to over rev when accelerating. Could this be the clutch or something else if the clutch how costly ?????????????

  Hi I am looking for a new car for my wife We have narrowed it down to two cars either the Celica 1800 or VW beetle 1800 turbo. Does anyone have experience with either of these two cars? Which would be better in the long run? thanks alan Boot space is not an issue!

  It could be my imagination but it seems like my 97 VR6 engine runs smoother & picks up speed better in damp conditions. It pulls well anyway but there does seem to be an improvement in the wet. Any ideas as to a potential technical reason for this or is it just a "fluke" ( or my imagination of course !).

  just the other day i noticed water dripping down the right hand side of the passenger footwell carpet,its been dry weather for 2 weeks,it only happens when engine is running,could this be the heater matrix? my car is a golf gti mk2 16v 1988 f reg

  Hi, I have a renault clio 1.4rt 1994 model & when it is running as the revs get to around 2000rpm the engine seems to die. But if the accelerator is pressed the engine responds. The only things I think the problem could be is either the throttle stepper motor or the throttle position sensor.

  Time for an oil change on my Seat Toledo. Its a 1996 GT 16v (engine from a golf mark 2) Is it worth my while running it on synthetic/semi synthetic? I am aware that sometimes this can damage the engine (particular seals) for some types of cars. It's done 60k miles. Any insights welcome!

  I think this may have been covered before, but can anyone advise me of the dangers of using jump leads and ECUs. I recently used a Micra to jump start another car and it later refused to start, and now runs badly. What could be the likely trouble? The hand book and workshop manuals detail the procedure, but give no disadvantages.

• VW Jetta - cracked cylinder head 2 Oct 2001 (Forum)
  Does anyone know of an additive to the cooling system that will repair a cracked cylinder head. The problem only shows on the warm up procedure by missing and loss of power and occasionally runs hot. A new head will cost more than the car is worth but it is otherwise in good condition - thanks for any help

  I have a Volvo 940 "Celebration" with the 2.4 low pressure turbocharged engine. on enquiring about converting to run on gas I have had various opinions from; "No problem" to don't attempt it" Has anyone converted to gas? how successful is it? any problems? and how much should it be costing me!!
