    Phil Garratt and Kieron Brown have led the pack in the V8-powered classic since the event started on 6 June, but it broke down in the Yellowstone National Park.  Believed to be the first Stag ever to take on an endurance rally, the car arrived in Idaho Falls on the back of a flatbed truck after the Triumph lost its transmission.  The news might not be all bad, though, we hear that a differential and seals are being shipped in from Arizona on an overnight service and that a garage in Idaho Falls where they 'work on old cars' has offered to help them put it all together.

    For the first time classic Aston Martins will be sold directly from Newport Pagnell, giving customers access to the Works team and the Works Service restoration business. Customers will be able to view and compare cars from every era of Aston Martin’s 100 years at Aston Martin Works. Fittingly, the Heritage Showroom is housed within the restored Olympia building – itself also now 100 years old – which has been central to the Aston Martin story since its move to Newport Pagnell in 1957.

    One of the UK's leading driving schools has announced that it has teamed up with young driver insurer Ingenie to offer more affordable insurance for 17-25 year olds. Any driver who passes with Red (and is aged between 17 and 25 years ld), will be offered an 'out of sight' black box, which collects data on how the car is being driven. The box assesses individual driving styles and driver feedback is available via the ingenie mobile app and online.

    EurotaxGlass’s, publisher of Glass’s Guide, reports that used car values will fall by at least 12 per cent between now and Christmas, as retail demand continues to ease back and second-hand vehicles of most types remain in plentiful supply. For a three-year old car worth £5,000, this will be almost three times the £225 decline witnessed during the same period last year.

Researchers compared the cost of new parts on a selection of four-year-old vehicles from the UK’s top ten selling manufacturers.

    More than a quarter of of female motorists feel that they have been overcharged by a garage when they've had work done on their car. The survey by warranty and maintenance company Motoreasy showed that nearly one in three women questioned have stopped using a garage because they felt they were being taken advantage of, with a third of younger women drivers between 20 and 25 years old saying they felt most vulnerable.
  • Michelin announces latest Alpin winter tyre 3 Feb 2014 (News)
    The Alpin 5 sits between the previous Alpin 4 and the Pilot Alpin winter tyre, which is designed for larger tyre sizes and higher performance cars. The Alpin 5 uses a new tread patten designed to better disperse water and to provide a so-called ‘rack and pinion’ effect, which locks into uncompressed snow to improve traction.
