  Sold for the price of an evening out in London at just £250. An unwarranted mileage 97R Peugeot 406 3.0 V6 GLX sold for £950. A straight looking 98R but 144k mile silver Omega 2.0 GLS started at £500 and sold for £1,300. A neat and tidy 28k mile 99T new shape Punto 60 in the right pale metallic blue sold for £2,925, and an ex driving school unwarranted mileage 2001/51 Punto 1.2 ELX for £3,275.

  Plenty of Confidence at Auction Today 21 Sep 2001 (News)
  An 86,000 mile 99T Mercedes E300TD Avantgarde automatic sold for £17,500; a 22,000 mile 99T E46 BMW 318iSE sold for the normal £13,100. A 72,000 mile 99T Peugeot 306 GTi-6 still sold for a high £6,825. And even a 57,000 mile 98R Peugeot 106 GTi made £5,150. Late Ford Focuses, however, have seen further falls. A trio of Radiant Red 1.8 Zetec 5-doors with climate pack bid to £7,400 for the 7,000 miler; £7,150 for the 20,000 miler; and £6,600 for the 24,000 miler which needed a bit of attention to the paint.

  The use of aerodynamics can be traced back more than a century in motor racing. Gustave Eiffel of Parisian tower fame had a wind tunnel that Peugeot used to help shape its Grand Prix cars in the 1910s. But it was Colin Chapman of Team Lotus who fully realised the idea of a race car as an inverted wing, pressed to the track by the air that passed over its bodywork.

  Manufacturers and importers who have seen significant sales increases this year to date include: Alfa Romeo, Audi, Chrysler, Citroen, FIAT, Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover, Nissan, Perodua, Peugeot, Porsche, Proton, Renault, SAAB, SEAT, Skoda, Suzuki, Toyota, and Volkswagen. The biggest sales increase was by Citroen, up from 25,821 in the first four months of last year to 42,741 in the first four months of this year.
