  • SEAT Ibiza III - 2008 Ibiza 1.2 Reference Sport Thoughts? 1 Aug 2013 (Forum)
No excess wear to seats, pedal rubbers, gearstick gaiter, steering wheel etc etc and has some service history.  The car suits what I need, practical enough for me,  mostly drive short journeys (5 miles max) every day to and from work, on a mixture of urban and national speed limit dual carriage ways, with the occasional jaunt further afield on motorways and into cities. I've driven a number of Ibiza over the years from old J plates to new diesels and I'm happy with the comfort and general driving experience.
  • Seat - Temporary Car Insurance 15 Jul 2013 (Forum)
Hi I have just bought a second hand car and so cancelled the insurance on my old car and used no claims etc on the new one.  I need to sell my old car and thought, incorrectly, that as I am insured to drive other cars (third party basis) via my main insurance, I could use this to do test drives for my old one.  I checked the gov website and realise that, unless a car is permanently off the road, it has to be insured.
  • Volkswagen Golf - Golf MK4 reverse gear 9 Jul 2013 (Forum)
Now, if I hold the gearstick hard against the reverse position the car will move, albeit with the ocassional noise. The bloke said I could get away with driving it for a while whilst I decide what to do... Its going to cost a bit of money to work out what the problem is with the gearbox, and then perhaps a new gearbox on top = £££ Is there going to be a problem with us driving it like this do you think?
  • Honda Accord - i-CTDi VSA module failure - should dealer pay? 29 May 2013 (Forum)
I recently took my 2006 diesel Accord into the local main dealer to have a new clutch fitted. After the work was done, the servicing manager remarked that on the test drive they performed, the VSA (traction control) light had lit up on the dashboard, indicating a failure of the unit. This light had never come on with me driving it previously. Having briefly done some research into this online, I now realise that Honda issued a warranty extension for VSA units on diesel 7th gen.
  • '52 KA 1.3 - Ford KA w/ multiple problems 8 May 2013 (Forum)
Got a few problems with my KA,  but I'll start with the most pressing. Recently, after driving, there has been a gurgling sound coming from the coolant hoses and expansion tank.  The level has not been dropping and I've always kept it topped up.  The hoses get plenty hot and there's no sign of any steam or leakages anywhere.

  • Citroen C8 - Citroen C8 Black Smoke intermittent 30 Mar 2013 (Forum)
Hi All,   I have a Citroen C8 SX hdi 2.0ltr with an intermittent problem.  I drove it from England to the South of France and within 100 miles of motorway driving the car started to slightly judder and if i took my foot from the accelerator and pushed back down then it wasn't very responsive and slow to react, i could also see smoke from the back.  After 5 miles it was fine.

  • 52 plated Nissan Micra Tempest - Nissan Micra leaks when it rains 31 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Hi Joined here as maybe someone can help  Im a non driver but my other half owns and drives a 52 plated Nissan Micra Tempest Of late we have experienced a problem in that when it rains we get a wet floor in the passenger footwell The water seems to come from somewhere behind or under the glove box area (the drips come about where the driving controls would be is they where on that side, is that makes sense) The heavier the rain, the worse the drips Now I have cleaned out the gutters at the side of the door I have managed to use a thin piece of wire to clean these out fully and they seem to run off to the drain behind the wheel ok but still we get the leak I have no idea what else to try and hope someone here can help (mainly in idiots languages as, like said im a non driver, and maybe even with pics) Anyone able to solve this ?
  • Vauxhall Corsa D 1.2i petrol - Petrol smell 19 Oct 2012 (Forum)
When less than half full,  smell disappears but sometimes returns and stays after driving car a few miles.  Am now driving around with windows open and tank nearly empty.  Filler cap not too tight but suspect this is a vent. Perhaps charcoal canister in rear wheel arch?  No petrol smell at all from engine compartment,  even when hot.
  • Renault Grand Scenic 2012 - Keyless entry/start question 18 Sep 2012 (Forum)
It will also start without having to put the card in the reader slot in front of the gearstick (that much I know!) Sometimes we put our two young kids in the car when loading up to leave (it is on the drive close to the house) That way we know where they are and can lock up properly etc. My concern is that it would be possible for someone to jump in, start the car and drive off! This could happen whether the kids are in or not!

  • Ford Focus Saloon 1.8 TDCI - Ford Focus Heater vent blowing upon acceleration 8 Jan 2012 (Forum)

  • FIAT Punto II (1999 - 2006) - 02 1.1 Keeps cutting out, no power 19 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Once the engine is on, you have to keep accelatating otherwise the car stalls. There's hardly any power in the car when driving, had to drive in 2nd gear at 35mph otherwise if you put it in a higher gear, there just wasn't enough power and the car would stall again. If at traffic lights or in traffic, you constantly need to keep revving again otherwise it stalls.
  • an old biker - cars don't kill bikers, drivers of both do! 1 Oct 2011 (Forum)
As someone who has seen both sides of the picture, been hit by a car that came out of a gateway, t-boned, (twice) and yes managed to cut up a biker too many years later, i feel that it is lack of attention and indeed lack of caring nowadays for anyone else on the road. i was never a very fast rider, my reflexes were never good enough from 45 years ago to 12 years ago when i gave up and sold my trusty trident after moving back to london.  I so often see drivers of all types on mobile phones while driving, and just yesterday saw a young lady drive into the back of the car in front very very slowly as she was looking at her passenger as she talked to her. oblivious to the car in front stopping at a roundabout . there was no damage and nobody got upset and the car in front that was hit actually drove off....
  • Loose wheel nuts following Cam belt change 20 Sep 2011 (Forum)

  • Land Rover Freelander 2 - Wheel Bearing on the way out??? 15 Aug 2011 (Forum)
The insurance company has offered us two choices, leave the car here to be recovered and faff around with rentals to get us home or risk it.  I am minded to risk it. How far can I drive on a noisy bearing,,,,there is currently no play in the wheel, but it will be weighed down, 4 passegers and luggage etc and it will be hot.  Grateful of any advice Thanks
  • Mazda Mazda 6 (2008 -) - New front tyres fitted. Now st.wheel offcentre??? 5 May 2011 (Forum)
This morning it drove absolutely fine. 2 new front tyres were needed so called in a national tyre chain's mobile tyre fitting service, who put on 2 Good Year Eagle NCTs. Driving it immediately afterwards, noticed that the steering wheel is now off centre - i.e. when driving in a straight line the steering wheel points very slightly to the left..... and if you hold the wheel dead centre the car steers very slightly to the right.
  • Need some advice/suggestions on my next automatic 2 Apr 2011 (Forum)
Hi there, i'm new in the word of motoring and need some help. I currently drive an 02 mazda 6 2.0 TS.  I really like the car and the handling but the MPG is a little low for my liking.  I drive 80% motorway and even if I dont exceed 60mpg with cruise control on (no AC on) I can still only manage 37mpg!
