Fuel prices rise for the third consecutive month 6 Jun 2016 (News)
The price of petrol and diesel rose in May 2016 – the third consecutive month of rises – according to RAC Fuel Watch data. On average, unleaded went up by two pence-per-litre and diesel by 2.2 pence-per-litre, which added £1 or £1.22 to the cost of filling the average fuel tank, respectively. -
Honda Swindon plant now producing green hydrogen 31 Oct 2014 (News)
The Swindon Honda plant is now producing renewable hydrogen entirely from solar power. The plant previously had a hydrogen filling station, but the fuel was shipped in by trucks – now the plant can produce completely carbon-neutral fuel. The fuel is being used to power an on-site learning centre, along with some of the plant’s forklift trucks, plus a fleet of seven converted Ford Transit vans, operated by Swindon Council and Commercial Group. -
Cost of petrol and diesel falls 5 Jun 2017 (News)
It's even better news for diesel, which can now fill up for an average of £1.40 less than earlier in the year. The South of England is home to the most expensive fuel in the UK - with unleaded at 117.25p-per-litre and diesel at 118.43p-per-litre. The East of England enjoyed the greatest reduction in the cost of diesel, with the average price dropping 2.68p-per-litre to 118.14p-per-litre, despite having the second most expensive fuel in the country. -
Government to make E5 fuel available for classic owners 11 Mar 2020 (News)
The Government has confirmed that it will continue to make fuel containing 5% bioethanol available for owners of historic vehicles. It’s good news for classic car owners, who feared that they would be forced to use fuel containing 10% bioethanol, which can be harmful to older vehicles. The news comes after Ministers announced plans to introduce E10 at all pumps in a in a bid to meet its tough environmental targets. -

The RAC has said the impact on fuel prices is not as bad as first feared, following Britain’s vote to leave the European Union. “Despite the dramatic fall in the strength of the pound in the aftermath of Britain’s referendum vote to leave the European Union there has not been as big an effect on wholesale fuel prices as might have been expected,” commented RAC fuel spokesman Simon Williams. -

The only by-produce of a hydrogen fuel cell car is water, and proponents argue that hydrogen reduces so-called ‘range anxiety’ because hydrogen cars can be re-fuelled in the same way a petrol or diesel car can. However, hydrogen is often produced using fossil fuels, denting its ‘well-to-wheel’ CO2 efficiency, and is problematic to store, requiring a pressurised fuel tank. -
Credit crunch 'leading to interest in alternative fuels' 15 Jul 2008 (News)

Fuel duty petition launched by motor publication 7 Jul 2008 (News)
A petition against the rising price of fuel duty in the UK has been announced. The protest has been organised by What Car? magazine, which has claimed that some £9 billion was spent on the tax during June 2008. Opec deal could push up fuel prices by 9p-per-litre 1 Dec 2016 (News)
Motorists are facing a jump in fuel prices after OPEC countries agreed a cut in the global production of oil. The deal could see 9p added to a litre of fuel, with oil prices on course to reach $60 a barrel before the end of 2016. The surge in oil prices will add an average of £5 to the cost of filling up a family car and a peak of $60 a barrel would result in a 9p-per-litre increase at the forecourts, according to the AA.
